Advent 3070
Review of Advent 3070 by
PhilipHales
Advantages: It is a good system
Disadvantages: Only 2 USB ports (at the back?) Soundcard, Graphics card could have been better.
I purchased my Advent 3070 9 months ago from PCWorld. My previous computers had been home constructed affairs, however, when you buy a Motherboard from this Co. Memory from that Co. Periferals from a variety of others and you experience problems finding some faults can be very awkward as each tries to blame the other. So I ended up selecting something with reasonable power. I also wanted a Digital Camera, Scanner and Printer all with Buy now - Pay ... ...to be a one-time buy System. Within the first month I had a HDD failure, and to be fair to PCWorld they repaired it PDQ and replaced the 30Gb with a better 40Gb for my trouble.
I also bought a re-writer, as I have a heap of LP's I want to burn to CD's. The machine came with 128MB as standard memory, which I am considering upgrading to 256MB as I have scanned the old LP sleeves (in 4 parts - which I need to 'stitch' together, this takes memory, and ...

Do Not Buy This PC
Review of Advent e.Go by
Phattyd
Advantages: Small
Disadvantages: Laggy, Slow, Doesn't Configure to external software,
Last February I bought an Advent E.go to use at school. It seemed at the timr to be a very good buy with only one draw back, It had no Floppy Disk Drive, This didn't bother me as I planned to buy a Zip Drive as I had one at home and all the school Pc's had them. The Processor was a 450 MHZ processor and the Hard Disk was 8 GB which was plenty. I have from the start been plagued with problems. The First Printer I bought would not configure to the ... ...my Dads Laptops USB ports. Then the second Printer I eventually had to buy Wouldn't Configure either. When I took the Pc in to be looked at it turned out that the USB Bus Hub wasn't connected properly. This was a manufacturing fault. Then after having this sorted out the Pc while just running word crashed and had to be re-booted for no apparent reason. I lost two pieces of G.C.S.E. Coursework. Then I put the computer into storage for two months during ...

There's life in the old classic yet!
Review of Amiga A1200 by
p-sutherby
Advantages: Upgradable, Classic, Unique
Disadvantages: Prices for 2nd hand kit!
...long break from using an amiga as a gaming machine, I recently re-discovered the amiga scene and was surprised that long after the death of the company, there is still development of software and hardware for the computer.
The Amiga 1200 is very upgradeable - with options to add various hard drives, Wireless networking, power pc processors and new versions of AmigaOS to add a nice operating system - you can even install linux on the Amiga! I bought ... ...I can use the amiga as a vintage gaming machine and relive the classics of SWOS, Cannon Fodder, Frontier etc for fantastic nostalgia and superb gameplay. As a gaming machine, the Amiga still holds its own - the graphics are clearly not a patch on any modern day console or PC title, but there is a magic about the Amiga and the gameplay it offers. Maybe it's the simplicity, but it is there.
Support is an issue as there are no warranty, however there ...

MAC MINI 1.42 ghz G4
Review of Apple Mac mini M9687LL/A by
ash321
Advantages: compact, cute, and it is a macintosh!
Disadvantages: slow under a lot of strain, cost of upgrades(i.e. memory)
...( if you buy an apple keyboad and mouse there is an extra two on the key board one for your mouse) for most of my bits i rotate i pod most days printer and scanner when needed and my card reader is always in the back of the keyboard but you might prefer to buy an usb hub.
there is one fire wire, i don't use this much, but it would be used for movies, and an ipod dock, and i think new ipods too (check this though as i am not 100%).
the internal ... ...enjoy movies and music you need to buy bigger speakers, if you have 5:1 you will need a sound card too.
if you buy this new you will not get keyboard mouse or monitor so will need to spend a bit of extra cash getting it up and running.
the plug supplying to power has the power thing attched to it so you will need to hide this somewhere and it is all too easy to pull out of the back you the computer by accident.
if you are thinking about getting ...

Mac Mini, Basic offering packs a mighty punch!
Review of Apple Mac mini PPC G4 1.25 GHz by
philglen
Advantages: Small, Well Equipped & Affordable
Disadvantages: You have to get used to a new Operating System
The most basic of the Apple Mac family, all I can say is WOW! I am a Web Developer and had to do some Mac testing, so bought the cheapest Mac Option at £399, it sat on the shelf unopened for 3 months then one day I needed it. I opened the box, and rigged it all up. To cut a long story short, I now use the Mac Mini as my main computer as it is still far superior to my £1000+ PC equivalent. To sum up the product, it is small and beautiful, yet still ...
