Expensive lenses
Review of Canon EOS 450D by
crware
Advantages: Excellent build quality, superb CMOS sensor, low noise at high ISO.
Disadvantages: Poor kit lenses
...shortcomings of investing in this Canon system. Given the superb performance of the CMOS image sensor, particularly at high sensitivity settings, the lenses offered by Canon as 'kit' lenses are somewhat of a let-down and disappointment for the following reasons:
The camera body does not have image stabilisation. If you wish to have this facility each lens you buy has to have it built in. This makes the lenses inherently more expensive than similar ... ...of polarising filters difficult.
Canon do not supply lens hoods with their lenses and, unless you opt for cheap alternatives, are quite expensive to add on.
To get the best from the resolving capabilities of this excellent camera one really needs to go for the more up-market Canon lenses and they don't come cheap.
So beware, you may end up spending quite a lot of money getting this camera kitted out to your satisfaction. ...

Happy snapping with the D300
Review of Nikon D300 by
Jobanjos
Advantages: Competitively priced and packed with new features
Disadvantages: None! Any disadvantages would be entirely personal
The Nikon D300 will currently set you back around £1000 in the UK, and that's without the glass on the front. My review here might seem technical to some, but that's not an amount of money most people part with lightly. I don't apologise for putting some basic spec in the review, after all, if you're considering buying this camera, it's exactly what you need to know before getting out your wallet.
If you're after a camera that will take good quality ... ...said, my review of the Nikon D300 contains some specifications and technical speak, as well as my own experience of using the camera. I haven't covered everything, as that would take forever, but I've aimed to cover some of the more important and useable features.
***What's in the Box?***
D300 body, including body cap, LCD monitor cover and eyepiece cap
EN-EL3e rechargeable Li-ion battery with terminal cover
MH-18a quick charger and power cable

wowza.....! I love it
Review of Canon EOS 5D by
chrisplatt999
Advantages: Superb handling 1st class quality pictures. Real feel good factors
Disadvantages: bit heavy compared to other lightweight DSLR and a bit more complicated
Got this for my Christmas self pressie as an upgrade from 350D. Probably not 4 times as good (comparing price to price) but so much better nevertheless. Seemed a better upgrade than going to 20D or 30D. More complicated to set up and use but thats half the fun of photography for an amateur like me. I just love gadgets and playing - great!! If you take in RAW then everything can be improved after all. I am still learning on this camera
The picture ... ...colours are sharp and crisp
The full frame is more than a bonus. With a wide angle lens you can almost see behind you!! On my old 350D I had to deliberately move the camera down so as not to cut off the top of the subjects heads. Now I have to move it up so as not to have too much clear space above the subject! Perhaps the only complaint is that with some pictures regardless of which lens I use at the extremes of the focal length top and bottom ...

THE camera choice for professionals
Review of Nikon D2Xs by
purplesky283
Advantages: high end imaging
Disadvantages: price
Super for advanced photographers. I found the manual to be extensive and just keep on providing me with features!! i was like a kid playing with a new toy. I have been using it on a photography course, and I just find it amazing. The most expensive camera I have bought but just so many things to get excited about.
The DXS was award winning and this is even better, with refinements to the viewfinder, the battery doesn't die so quickly and the LCD ... ...in RAW or JPEG formats. Resulting in 4288 by 2848 images. An intellegence system which investigates and evaluates the lighting. A processor which allows high end image processing, coupled with Fast performance..
The mercedes of cameras, this is really the pinacle of camera technology. With numerous features crammed in. Big piece of equipment that allows you to control and set up the shot. ...

Panasonic Lumix DMC FS3-Simple and quality
Review of Panasonic Lumix DMC FS3 by
Foxy1212
Advantages: value, zoom, features
Disadvantages: probably not to good for advanced photography
...and he reccomended me this panasonic lumix camera. I have been more than happy with his reccomendation ever since, having found the camera very easy to use, but also capable of taking very high quality photographs. I would reccomend this above Samsung and Fuji cameras I have had in the past.
The zoom is excellent, very defined, and the camera offers a burst feature, which allows you to take a series of photos, excellent for a moving object, and ... ...than £80 equivalent I am very pleased to have chosen this camera, as for someone who wants photos of travels and everyday life, it has more than i need, but is not at all confusing. It also comes in a range of colours so you can customise it as you wish, and once bought you will be snapping away without having to carry the manual with you for when you get confused. ...
