A real camera for real photographers
Review of Canon EOS 1D Mark II by cosilki

Advantages: Rugged, professional, fast
Disadvantages: Expensive

...Mk II is my fourth Canon digital SLR. I've owned the 300D, the 10D and 1D Mk I. It's important to note that you'd be hard pushed to tell the difference between pictures taken with this camera and the 300D, the 10D or the 20D. In 99% of situations the cameras would produce identical results. Every other camera that I've owned has let me down at some point, producing a rubbish image when I should have had a great shot. The focus hasn't been quick enough, ...
...the 1D Mark II. If I get a bad image, it's my fault. Metering is incredibly accurate, exposures are perfect. With decent lenses (and you wouldn't put rubbish glass on this camera) focussing is fast, very fast. It's always ready for the next shot, you never miss a thing. It's also environmentally sealed and you aren't worried if you get caught in a rain shower which can destroy cheaper models. I've had this for nearly a year and my jaw still drops ... Read review

Canon EOS 1Ds Mark 11
Review of Canon EOS 1D Mark II N by zippernipper

Advantages: 16.7 mega pixel, 36 x 24mm (35mm film full frame)
Disadvantages: Very Expensive

This camera out ways them all, with an impressive 16.7megapixels it out ways any SLR on the market. The camera offers a huge amount 17.2-megapixel, high-sensitivity, large single-plate CMOS sensor (16.7 million effective pixels) delivering image resolutions as high as 4,992 x 3,328 pixels. Improved shutter durability, rated at 200,000 shutter cycles in the EOS-1Ds Mark II. 2.0-inch LCD monitor for image playback and review. RAW and JPEG image file ...
...that this camera is for the rich/proffesional hobist, who knows how to take a quality picture. Its easy to use but can get harder when you place a large lense on. The picture quality is superb with 16.7 megapixels the pictures you produce are brilliant. The battery lasts for about 3hrs but you will need an extra one if you are going to take it out on the field. I found that the camera works in all conditions and can take anything. You need to play ... Read review

Great semi pro, or pro backup.
Review of Canon EOS 20D by stuf1982

Advantages: Light weight yet robust
Disadvantages: Small sensor limit's full 35mm lenses, slightly red cast.

I am a professional photographer and use a 20D as one of my backups. This is an excellent semi pro camera that is user friendly enough for any beginner. With image quality suitable for printing up to A2 from a RAW file. I would strongly recommend shooting in RAW wherever possible as the JPEG compression can be very limiting for post shoot editing and any image correction you may need to apply. To get the most out of the camera I would recommend ... Read review

Good camera with lots of potenital
Review of Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S600 by adambenclegg

Advantages: Simple and takes high quality pictures.
Disadvantages: No macro mode

I got this camera as an inbetween camera when mine died. I decided to keep it and it was an excellent decision. The camera has wide range of standard functions and different modes. Some of this are quite complicated but 'Auto' works excellent none the less. The camera is pretty functional and pretty easy to figure out. Another advantage of this camera is that it uses AA batteries, rather than a camera specific battery. One drawback however is that ... Read review

Nikon D80
Review of Nikon D80 by wikirapid

Advantages: Best Feature in Great Price
Disadvantages: None

...of fantastic picture quality. The Nikon D80 is an enthusiast's dream and is incredibly rewarding to use. I had always a dream of buying Nikon D200 but with the release of D80 in much more economical price and the features somehow same to the D200, I was impressed. It has a new and improved 10.2-megapixel image sensor. It is an interesting mix of point-and-shoot and serious camera, Nikon's D80 has been touted as a 'little sister' to the D200 model ...
