Konica Minolta A200
Review of Konica Minolta DiMAGE A200 by psilk

Advantages: Excellent picture quality, range of functions, lens quality, anti shake function
Disadvantages: Viewfinder not the best, low light autofocus

Although Konica Minolta have now ceased making cameras, there are still a few of these around (and warranty/service has been handed over to Sony). The A200 is the last of KM bridge mount digital cameras in the pro-sumer market. It has a 8m pixel CCD and 28 to 200 (35mm equivalent) manual zoom lens - much better than a motor driven lens which tend to have noticeable "stops". Although fairly big (not quite as big as a D-SLR) and quite heavy, the range ...
...a number of programme modes in between means that you get pretty much all the benefits of a D-SLR in a smaller, more convenient package. It's no pocket camera however. A number of items standout:- the excellent quality lens (which has very little barrel distortion or vignetting) and which can take both wide-angle and telephoto adaptors the multi angle display which makes self portraits (with remote) or taking pictures from unusual angles (like above ... Top-quality images and zoom at an affordable price
Review of Konica Minolta DiMAGE A2 by happydadtoo

Advantages: Lens; picture quality; price; durability; features; zoom range; weight
Disadvantages: Non-removable lens; battery life; discontinued :(

INTRODUCTION: I have bought two of these cameras - one for myself and one for work (I am a semi-pro photographer at a major public school), so pleased was with my own camera. The A2 was, in about 2003, just about the best of the 'prosumer' digital cameras available and won many awards. In the relentless cost-cutting that is so prevalent in this market, Minolta then kept the lens and image sensor, but cut the features and the price and renamed it ...
...is the better camera - no question! I have read many internet reviews of this camera, SOME of which refer to 'purple fringing', which is a feature of the particular (Sony-made) image sensor used in this (and most other) 8Mp cameras. I can only report that I have scarely noticed it at all - whatever others may worry about, it is too small to get stressed over (and can easily be removed within Photoshop, anyway). The other criticism I found in the ... Read review

Canon EOS 350D
Review of Canon EOS 350D by joelimar73

Advantages: Flash compensation setting
Disadvantages: External flash is a must when taking group indoor shots

Very nice camera. Especially the macro shots. Performance in low light /indoor condition not that good but an external flash will do the thing. Handling is good and the placement of knobs and function buttons are well placed. Taking pictures with high ISO setting is nice, especially if the condition requires no firing of flash. Battery performance is at par. You can take several shots even if you are using internal flash. I like the flash compensation ... Read review

30D... why?
Review of Canon EOS 30D by jake169

Advantages: 2.5" LCD screen, 5FPS
Disadvantages: only 8 megapixels

Another typical camera by Canon. The 30D comes as an upgrade from the very successful 20D. Owning this DSLR I can only say that you can feel the quality. As well as being ergonomic the button layout is perfect. On other moddles some buttons are to small the press especially with gloves on. Picture quality is excellent colours are replicated well from natural skin tones to the vivid colours of the camera. A chose this camera as my first DSLR as it ...
...shooting at this speed requires a high shutter speed. Well you were right to get 5fps you will have to be shooting at 1/4000 sec although 4fps is a more realistic speed for average shooting. This still seems fast enough and produces sharp images especially when using AI and Servo modes with moving subjects. Overall this is an excellent camera and is very user freindly due to design and the large 2.5" lcd screen. If you are considering buying this ... Read review

Great semi pro, or pro backup.
Review of Canon EOS 20D by stuf1982

Advantages: Light weight yet robust
Disadvantages: Small sensor limit's full 35mm lenses, slightly red cast.

I am a professional photographer and use a 20D as one of my backups. This is an excellent semi pro camera that is user friendly enough for any beginner. With image quality suitable for printing up to A2 from a RAW file. I would strongly recommend shooting in RAW wherever possible as the JPEG compression can be very limiting for post shoot editing and any image correction you may need to apply. To get the most out of the camera I would recommend ... Read review
