I purchased a Nikon Coolpix 8800 a few months ago as a spare back up camera to my Nikon D70. I have owned a few digital compacts & found that the 8800 is a far more versitile compact towards my earlier compacts. A great camera. If your looking for a small one then it might be a bit bulky, but has a great dial, use and internal memory. I put a1Gb card it in and get 300 ish photos. A great . It has vibrate reduction, a self timer. I have had it for a good 2 - 3 years now. Bought it for about £250. I got this camera as an inbetween camera when mine died. I decided to keep it and it was an excellent decision. The camera has wide range of standard functions and different modes. Some of this are quite complicated but 'Auto' works excellent none the less. The camera is pretty functional and pretty easy to figure out.
