Review of Charmed - Series 1-8 - Complete (Box Set) by
amyloop
Advantages: Excellant
Disadvantages: Bit Expensive but you do get 48 disks
...during her life as a charmed one, including falling in love with a demon, becoming famous and losing all of her active powers.
Paige Matthews: - Rose McGowan is in the programme from season 4 to season 8, and her character is the result of a magically illegal affair between her mother and her mother's guardian angel. Rose, plays the youngest sister, who loves magic, and has a wild streak (just like her natural self) she finds it hard to come to ... ...and keep watching it, and charmed is definately the sort of programme you can keep on watching.
I recommend this to all ages of people, the storylines can be as light or heavy as you like and the DVD's really are brilliant, the sound, effects, stories everything, all brilliant!!!
I think one of the best parts of Charmed, is the truly unique songs and music within the story.
Most of the songs played are due to Piper owning a club in which bands ...

A book-made-into-film from Stephen King
Review of Hearts In Atlantis DVD by
woof45
Advantages: A strong emotional film from a great novel by Stephen King
Disadvantages: Some places a bit slow
Hearts in Atlantis (2001)
Directed by Scott Hicks (Call Me Mr.Brown, Shine)
Duration: approx 101mins
Price I paid: Set in 1960
This is a wonderful masterpiece created from the fictional Novel by Stephen King.
Starring Anthony Hopkins as Ted Brautigan, a truly kind and caring man moves in upstairs of 11 year old Bobby Garfield's house on the run from the lowmen who take it upon themselves to find him in the search for his ability to read people's ... ...help of a young boy, Bobby, who he pays a couple of dollars for him to keep on the lookout for adverts for missing pets, large cars in the areas and men with tall hats and also to read him the newspapers - all elements in which help him locate the closing in of the lowmen, Ted and Bobby form a friendship where Bobby is almost taken in as a son to Ted.

A collection worth owning
Review of The BBC TV Shakespeare Collection DVD by
pumpkinfeatures
Advantages: A timeless collection, with a lot for your money.
Disadvantages: Seems a lot of money.
...a fantastic box set, almost The Complete Works of Shakespeare in DVD form! The range and sheer volume of plays which is covered in this box set is phenomenal. The quality of the acting is incredible, and the plays, although all in the seemingly confusing Shakespearean language are accessible due to the talent of the actors and their outstanding performances. I cannot claim to have seen every one of the plays in this collection, however the majority, ... ...my school we were shown the BBC versions of whatever play we were studying at the time. Although some, like 'King Lear', have times similar to the sections on the heath which drag, the relationships between the characters and their warped intentions are cleverly but boldly outlined. The viewer is never at a loss as to what is going on, not least because of some clever use of costume, where characters are teemed in matching or complimenting colours ...

Amazing TV, pointless box set?
Review of The West Wing - Series 1-6 - The Bartlet Years (Box Set) by
CJCregg
Advantages: Top quality television, best you will watch.
Disadvantages: There are seven seasons, not much point in buying six.
Without a doubt, The West Wing remains one of the finest shows ever to be aired on television. The superb cast and excellent writing is unparalleled, even after Sorkin's departure. The fact that many Americans would prefer Bartlet to Bush is testament to its quality.
I would, without question, give a full 5 stars for this product, but it seems a tad pointless when there are only a total of seven seasons and the full seven season boxset can be purchased ...

Shell Shocked? You will be...
Review of Regeneration DVD by
clownfoot
Advantages: A masterful, beautiful film examining the fragility of the human mind
Disadvantages: Some shocking scenes may be too much for some...
...insignificant British/Canadian financed movie called Regeneration that really stood out. Based on Pat Barker's novel of the same name (which I have not got round to reading yet), and directed by Gillies MacKinnon, Regeneration is a moving and powerful study of war and it's devastating effects on the human mind. Set in Craiglockhart military hospital during World War One, the film focuses on the real life encounter between army psychologist Dr William ... ...of mental health and shellshock, Regeneration investigates such concepts in much greater depths. For one thing no Great War film has thoroughly concentrated on the problems of insanity that the war produced in some men. Such elements have appeared in films of other genres beforehand none more so than One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, an extremely visceral and often disturbing look at mental health. In many ways Regeneration follows the constructs ...
