Disadvantages: Before driver update, problem reading a certain disc, just update it!

This is a great cheap Sata drive, that works perfectly, effectively, efficently, fast, and is reliable. Being one of the fastest drives in the world (quoted as being THE fastest), this is a pretty good drive! I got 2GB of data writen to a DVD in UNDER 2 minutes, which is increadible, so no problems in terms of speed, that's for sure. The drive works quiter than other drives, but obviously not silently. ...drive comes with Nero software, though I don't really get alone with this software, so I use another piece of software to write CDs and DVDs. I would recommend you download the latest drivers off LiteOn's website, as I did have a bit of a problem in reading some discs, which installing the latest drivers helped to read them, though the discs I was using, no other drive that I used worked, which includes 3 different machines. But I bought a Samsung drive (Super-WriteMaster SH-S202J) from www.ishift.co.uk and I must say that not only is it just as fast (20x) and I have seen no real difference in performance between the IDE or SATA drives as the Liteon and Pioneer drives but it is much much quieter! Disadvantages: Slow loading Vista with setup screen and overall poor

I really dont like these LG Drives. I will explain why They are so slow I loaded vista on one of my pcs and it took ages to even get though the setup screens. Its quite fast burning dvds however i have notice that the NEC Drives are alot faster in both loading software, vista and doing cds and dvds. I am quite disapoinent with these as i brought serveral and the performance is naff. I would recommend using a NEC Drive or one simular. Big disapointment. ...
...findings. The cd on the LG (This one was behind 1 and half cds than the philiips which was roughly 8 mins difference it was that bad! DVD Wise The Philips finished 5mins before this LG Drive did. Both machines were the same specification and the same media player burner media player 11 with windows vista! So there you have it a performance match where this drive failed big time. Sorry.. ... ...the drive vertically. Being Pioneer I imagine longevity is a given, at least here in my household they have an enviable reputation for reliability. I have never managed to break anything I have bought from them in the past. It doesn't seem to matter what quality of disc you present it with either, it just accepts any old tat. I ordered my Freecom DVD Recorder LS USB 2.0 after my CD/DVD drive packed up on my 15 month old HP Desktop.
