Disadvantages: Slow loading Vista with setup screen and overall poor

I really dont like these LG Drives. I will explain why They are so slow I loaded vista on one of my pcs and it took ages to even get though the setup screens. Its quite fast burning dvds however i have notice that the NEC Drives are alot faster in both loading software, vista and doing cds and dvds. I am quite disapoinent with these as i brought serveral and the performance is naff. I would recommend using a NEC Drive or one simular. Big disapointment. ...
...findings. The cd on the LG (This one was behind 1 and half cds than the philiips which was roughly 8 mins difference it was that bad! DVD Wise The Philips finished 5mins before this LG Drive did. Both machines were the same specification and the same media player burner media player 11 with windows vista! So there you have it a performance match where this drive failed big time. Sorry.. ... Advantages: Fast, reliable, cheap, reads all sorts of discs, not mega loud.
Disadvantages: Before driver update, problem reading a certain disc, just update it!

This is a great cheap Sata drive, that works perfectly, effectively, efficently, fast, and is reliable. Being one of the fastest drives in the world (quoted as being THE fastest), this is a pretty good drive! I got 2GB of data writen to a DVD in UNDER 2 minutes, which is increadible, so no problems in terms of speed, that's for sure. The drive works quiter than other drives, but obviously not silently. ...drive comes with Nero software, though I don't really get alone with this software, so I use another piece of software to write CDs and DVDs. I would recommend you download the latest drivers off LiteOn's website, as I did have a bit of a problem in reading some discs, which installing the latest drivers helped to read them, though the discs I was using, no other drive that I used worked, which includes 3 different machines. ...decided to go for another Pioneer drive as I have used them in the past and had very few problems, although it was marginally more expensive than some of the others at £18!! When it arrived the first thing I noticed was that it was the same size as a normal DVD drive, over an inch shorter than my previous one. ...jumper on the back to slave mode so that the computer would detect it properly. This was easily done which a clear set of instructions provided (once you find the right language!), the jumper was also quite easy to get hold of and pliers weren't necessary as I normally find they are. Advantages: Fast Write speeds, wide compatibilty, 20 speed dvd writing and CHEAP
Disadvantages: Not any that i've experienced!!

I found this to be an excellent drive as i picked up one for around £30 and that was when it came out(last year, june). I think that this is an excellent drive for the fact it has a wide range of DVD and CD writing features; 20 speed writing, my favourite feature is the light scribe feature which allows you to design your own cd labels on a special 'lightscribe disc'.
