Help Thomas and his Friends
Review of Leap Frog ClickStart Computer Game - Thomas The Tank Engine by
Ciciu
Advantages: Learning essential skills while playing
Disadvantages: Expensive
I bought the Click Start computer for my son for Christmas ( I have reviewed that also) So when people asked for ideas for pressents the games seemed like an obvious option.
There are three different games on this cartridge, each teaching different skills. Each with two levels of difficulty, depending on the age of the child.
"Really useful Engine"
Help the Fat controller - Using the mouse, First the child must choose the correct crates by recognising ... ...the crate using phonics, pick one crate to complete the three letter word. In level two the say the letters name, and also spell longer words.
Thomas then moves on and the child must help him pass some obsatcles by working out the correct tool for the obstacle ahead. Click on the correct picture and Thomas can move on.
"Making tracks"
Direct the engines - Using the mouse
The train enters the screen where the track splits into different directions. ...

I'm NOT playing...I'm REVIEWING ! (Thomas Tank)
Review of Leap Frog My First LeapPad Book: Thomas & The School Trip by
The-ex-Raven
Advantages: Lots and lots of games..lots and lots to learn...loads of fun
Disadvantages: Not being a Thomas fan..?
...books for the My First Leap Pad are "two in one" flip books with one story side and an activity side on the other. The cover is fairly thick shiny card with a big Thomas picture. The pages of the book itself are thinner but still durable. The cartridge has a matching picture of Thomas, so it makes it easy to find the right one to go with the book. The pictures on and in the book are cartoon-style but done well. All the favorite Thomas engines and ... ...for the narration is just like the one on the Thomas and Friends series and the voices of the characters are all 'right' as well, very well done not forgetting the Thomas theme tune too. The story is basically school children come to visit the train-yard Thomas leaves to get his work done and hurries to be back in time to take the children home. Thomas stops to help out Bertie the Bus and ends up taking the children home. Happy ever after...What ...

L Max Leapster from Leapfrog
Review of Leap Frog Leapster L-Max by
jaffasmith
Advantages: Learning tool that keep children occupied
Disadvantages: Takes 4 batteries
We brought the IMax for our eldest daughter when she was 4 ,She is now nearly 7. The L Max is a handhand games console designed for the younger child as a educational toy and is aimed at children 4 to 10yrs. The console and cartridges can be brought from most large stores / toy shops. You buy games cartridges but it does have some preprogrammed games already so you do not have to but extra cartridges. Helps children with spelling. numeracy tasks ... ...cant get it away from her little sister. Our youngest has been playing it since she was 2 1/2 shes now 3 & abit. She loves the painting programme. She can access it and get to the paint option by herself. Takes 4 AA batteries but they last a while. We did buy the adapter but youngest keeps tripping over the wire so we have had to go back to batteries. This goes every where with us shopping, holidays, car etc. You can always find deals on the cartridges ...

Review of Leap Frog Learning Connections Train by
kibs
Advantages: Fun for all ages. Educational. Suitable from 9 months.
Disadvantages: None.
I had been looking everywhere for a reasonable priced train set within my sons age group, and I was getting really frustrated as the all seemed to be for children from 3 years. It was really annoying as every time he saw them in store he was really excited. Then I spotted the learning connections train set, by Baby Leapfrog, suitable from 9 months. It was the last one on the shelve. Usual price £19.99, but it was on sale for £9.99.
So I arrived ... ...the little plastic ties, that are usually done that tight you cannot even cut them off, so you have to stick it out and untwist. This wasn't helped with my boy who was trying to snatch the thing out of my hands, One engine and five carriages later, and it was finally free from its plastic tie prison! So anyway, the first thing that I noticed apart from the bright coloured set, was that on the train engine, there was two switches. One acted as the ...

Go On - Play Us A Tune
Review of Leap Frog Mother Goose by
belfin
Advantages: Children can learn about the positioning of musical notes and their names
Disadvantages: none
As I have written other reviews about the Leappad system and books some of the background information will repeat itself. I feel it is necessary to include this again for anyone who has not read my other reviews.
My son has had his Leappad for over a year now and loves it. We have quite a selection of books as he gets them for Christmas and Birthdays from his grandparents as well as from ourselves. We chose this one for him as it concentrates on ... ...blocks together and has gone on to him composing his own 'tunes' on his keyboard.
***Background***
For those of you who are unfamiliar to the Leapfrog Leappad, it's a learning aid that requires a book and a cartridge to use. There is a pen attached to the system and children can get interactive with games, stories and learning by touching various places on the book with this pen. If you want to know more details of this system you can read my review ...
