Boss all the way
Review of Boss PS-5 Super Shifter by
pruneofdoom
Advantages: Great range of functions
Disadvantages: processed sound
I tried various pedals in order to get one that wold detune my guitar for me as i have a guitar that takes months to detune. This pedal stood out as far the best with most functions and best sound, but u pay for what you get. It have a nice function where you can mix the levels of the effect and the non effected sound and max a nice harmony effect, even can make it sound like a synth! I however am still not thoroughly convinced about the quality ...

Guitarport, be an easy bedroom rockstar
Review of Line 6 Guitarport by
Chopeh
Advantages: Price, PC Recording, Many Tones, Intuitive Software.
Disadvantages: Can't use it on stage! (Well, not easily)
...more mic-ing damn amps and hearing your brother talking in the background of the best damn solo you've ever recorded.
The bottom line is, if you want to sound like your guitar heroes, without splashing out on the £2000 amp and the £200 pedals, you can, in your bedroom. ...

Show 'em Who's BOSS
Review of Boss Metal Zone MT-2 by
brunocrosier
Advantages: Great look, durable, nice tones
Disadvantages: Price
The BOSS Metal Zone MT-2 has become one of the world's most commonly used effects pedals, and is the pedal of choice of most of the metal genre's finest guitarists. It has a three-band equaliser and semi-parametric midtone equaliser to provide an optimum range of tones to suit a variety of subgenres. It seems that BOSS are so confident in their product that they have offered a 5 year warranty with their product. Perhaps this is because it is built ... ...pedals myself i can safely say that the UM100 gives a much crisper yet distorted tone. So unless you are more interested in buying a brand name than a product, i would steer clear of all BOSS products and buy yourself 4 Behringer pedals for the price of one MT-2. ...

Jim Dunlop Cry Baby Wah Wah Pedal
Review of Dunlop Jim Cry Baby by
BenMeredith123
Advantages: Great Effects, Easy To Use, Cheap, Extremley Long Lasting Battery Life
Disadvantages: I Really Can't Think Of Any
Hi Dudes!!!
This is easily the best standard wah wah pedal out there and arguably better than some of the signature pedals. It is the number one most sold pedal in the world which must tell you something about it. Used by Joe satriani to get his amazing sounds you can go from those low tones for jazz and blues type stuff and some oldy rock or go for some high up ear blasting tones right up top for some new world metal stuff. The main and best pitch ...

Electro Harmonix Micro-synth (re-issue)
Review of Electro Harmonix Micro-Synth by
Chris_taylor
Advantages: a very simple, but effective, introduction to synth sounds with no guitar-midi
Disadvantages: large footprint, may not find its place in every bands sound,no true bypass
I was looking for a product which I could create sounds which most would define as 'out-there', or at least 'classic synth' for use in a jazz fusion band. The mircro synth excels at the latter, with an ability to quickly dail (or maybe slide) in warm monophonic Moog style sounds. you cannot go any further than monophonic however, a restirction which although seems extreme is actually quite managable once accepted. The low-pass has a large sweep, ... ...which allows for down and up envelope sounds. Due to the resonance control and rate controls, sounds can range from subtle to seriously thick sounding classic mono synth leads, even purcussive or pad sounds can be coaxed out of the unit, and thats before you've even really dealt with the 'voice mix' section or attack slider. The four voices produced: sub octave, guitar (not dry output, just the octave of the signal), octave (up) and 'square wave' ...
