Dull and lifeless
Review of Boss Compression Sustainer CS-3 by KrisUK07

Advantages: Sustain
Disadvantages: Tone

...the case. My experience with Boss has usually been ok with robust pedals that aren't half bad but the CS-3 was the first let down I had from Boss. The pedal is nice and robust and looks like it'll take a beating and still give you everything it's got. Only complaint with it construction wise is the battery connector. The cover peeled off the battery connector when I took out the battery making it a fiddly job to disconnect batteries now without ...
...Tone wise is where it all goes downhill. All the controls do their job ok and sometimes you can get an ok tone from it if you fiddle with it (at least I can with my Strat, not my Les Paul) but it seems to take away from your tone making it sound dull, lifeless and flat. Apart from that it works as it should. It compresses nicely and does aid with sustain (it does get to a point it gets noisy though as you increase the sustain using the sustain dial, ... Read review

the colour of rock is orange
Review of Boss Distortion DS-1 by battery

Advantages: solid construction, good price, easy to use, great sound
Disadvantages: those after a little more control over thier sound might want something else

i brought this as my introduction into floor peddles, but it would be wrong to look at it like that, i now see it as more of a life time investment. built so solidly that it will take all your bedroom rocking, stage abuse and other nasties that seem to affect items that spend their life on the floor. stomp until your hearts content your foot will break well before the DS-1 does! it is an incredibly simple peddle to use, a tone control, a level control ...
...adds to its durability and ease of use, i can be a drawback for the peddles flexibility in shaping sound. that said, its a distortion peddle and does exactly that, and goes some way to produce a range of tones from a hard distortion to a bluesy gain, to a more subtle volume boost. and the quality of sound that it produces has been proven by many renowned artists to be good enough in the studio and on stage. though being a digital peddle it can lack ... "The Equalizer"
Review of Boss Equilizer GE 7 by richard_richard

Advantages: Good sound, flexibility, reliable
Disadvantages: Almost too much to fiddle around with!

Boss have been producing good quality guitar pedals for many years now and are probably the best know name in guitar pedal manufacture. The pedal I am reviewing here is the GE-7 Equaliser pedal. I purchased this pedal a second hand about four years ago and I paid £49 for it. Out of interest, this particular pedal is an earlier Boss Japanese model. These are regarded by many as better quality than the newer models which are now made in Taiwan. Construction ...
...with the other single function Boss pedals I have the sound effect is pleasingly warm which doesn’t mess up your guitar tone. You can alter the sound frequencies over a wide range, which I imagine have been specifically chosen by Boss to match the frequencies that the electric guitar produces. The frequencies available to be adjusted from lowest to highest are, 100Hz, 200Hz, 400Hz, 800Hz, 1,6kHz, 3.2kHz and 6.4kHz. Each slider has a boost/cut of ... Read review

The Boss MD-2
Review of Boss MD-2 (Mega Distortion) by Darkhodge

Advantages: Good quality pedal with great sounds
Disadvantages: Quite expensive

...off. For this reason the Boss pedal doesn't sound good at all with my amp so I rarely use it. Conclusion: A very good quality pedal, with good design and sound. The unit is quite expensive but it's worth it for what you get. It is also very versatile as mentioned above, which is another good thing about this unit. ... Read review

Turn that bloody noise down
Review of Boss Noise Suppressor NS-2 by singingbush

Advantages: Reduce noise, power multiple pedals, quality
Disadvantages: none

...This is where the Boss NS-2 comes in. It can eliminate the noise and hum of your input signal without affecting the guitar’s sound. But why would I choose this pedal over other manufacturer’s noise suppressors? It’s true there are other pedals such as Rocktron’s Hush pedal for you to choose, but the NS-2 has a simple yet unique feature of being able to power another seven pedals when used with a psu. This cuts down on the amount of ac adapters ...
...The Boss noise suppressor is also up to the usual high standard of build that Boss produce. It is very strong and can last for years of abuse. Sizes: Width- 73mm Depth- 129mm Height- 59mm Weight- 0.4kg This a good quality pedal and will cost about £50. Although it’s only worth getting if you have multiple effects pedals and use distortion. ... Read review
