Dan Electro Scores A Late Equaliser!
Review of Danelectro Fish & Chips 7 Band EQ by scream4bruce

Advantages: Easy access battery compartment, durable, easy-to-use.
Disadvantages: Lightweight, small switch.

...guitar again. That is my Danelectro DJ-14 Fish & Chips 7-band equaliser. What does it do? An equaliser allows you to emphasise certain bands of frequency of your guitar sound through the amp. With 7 bands clearly there is more room for precise defining than say, the bass, middle and treble settings of your average guitar (practice) amp. Of course you need it to be switched on, but outside of practice the trick is to use it to switch between two contrasting ...
...heavy metal. In metal music in particular, cutting back on the middle frequencies and boosting those of the bass and treble gives a typical 'scooped' metal tone for rocking and riffing, which should be dialed into your amp. The lack of mids means a lack of volume and bite necessary for the lead guitar work to cut through above other sounds though. While there are switches for the amp to rectify this, this is not always inconvenient. Here at your ... Read review

Truely awsome and underated Overdrive pedal
Review of Digitech Bad Monkey Overdrive by col_death

Advantages: Analog overdrive circuitry, vintage overdrive tone, great as a channel booster
Disadvantages: Battery life isn't great

...an alternative, and found the Digitech Bad Monkey. After listening to some sound samples I decided that it was a perfect booster for my amp. And it is... What's great about this little green pedal, is the tone that you get from it. It is just like a vintage valve (Tube) amp. It has that warm break-up that you'd expect to hear from a valve driven amp, and none of that over compressed digitized sound that you get from a lot of "overdrive" pedals. ...
...many "overdrive" pedals. The pedal has 4 controls and 2 output jacks (amp out for guitar amps, and a emulated cabinet out for recording, etc.); Level - control the output of the pedal, so you could have that cranked up to physically overdrive your amp if you wanted. Low - this is a tone crafting control, you can use it to cut or boost the bass response of the "tube". High - another tone crafting control, used to cut or boost the high frequencies ... Read review

The Boss MD-2
Review of Boss MD-2 (Mega Distortion) by Darkhodge

Advantages: Good quality pedal with great sounds
Disadvantages: Quite expensive

...off. For this reason the Boss pedal doesn't sound good at all with my amp so I rarely use it. Conclusion: A very good quality pedal, with good design and sound. The unit is quite expensive but it's worth it for what you get. It is also very versatile as mentioned above, which is another good thing about this unit. ... Read review

BOSS PW-10 V-WAH
Review of Boss Wah Pedal PW-10 by hes_quadraphonic

Advantages: Memory, Distortion, 8 pedals in one, 8 distortion effects
Disadvantages: 6 AA batteries 40hrs battery life, pricey Ac Adapter (£25)

...----------Durability---------- As with any boss product, the pedal is pretty durable. It's mad of high quality metal and rubber and feels strong. Their are no horrible clicky buttons, and the pedal itself has a nice weight and feel to it. I'm confident that you could pretty much stand on this, and it wouldnt even scratch. ----------Functions---------- As mentioned before, the pedal emulates 4 main wah pedals. Additionaly, there are 4 other options, ...
...fact that it uses the BOSS PSA-240v adapter, as apposed to a standard generic adapter you could pick up anywhere. Consequently, this will set you back another £25, which i think is a little high considering you've already spent £125 for the pedal itself. ----------Price---------- This pedal costs £125 new, which despite its features, i'd say is a little steep. Afterall, this pedals not exactly fantastic at doing what its supposed to do - emulate. ... Read review

Ibanez SM-7
Review of Ibanez SM7 by onlineguitarhero2

Advantages: It is sexy and gives a good sound
Disadvantages: It's a distortion pedal.......how can there be any cons?

The Ibanez SM-7 is a tough one to review, it most definitely full fills it's task as a big crushing metal distortion pedal but does very little else. So, let's just have a run down of all the features on the pedal. Clean Channel --------------------- This pedal works a real treat when switched off. This may sound very strange to most people but trust me, some pedals when you aren't using the effect on them will still alter the sound coming from ...
...your average boss pedal, the Ibanez logo is subtly recessed into the pedal switch itself not a huge obvious logo spattered over the control board. The dials are fully depression-able; this is useful because it means that when using the switch you can't knock the dials to a different setting because they are safely inside the pedal as opposed to sitting on the top. The ID label on the top of the pedal is a very nice touch, a small SM-7 on an almost ... Read review
