White wolf - excellent read
Review of White Wolf - David Gemmell by
Saltank
Advantages: Very interesting, consuming and enthralling
Disadvantages: Too short in some parts
There is not much to say here. If you've read Gemmell books you know the overall style and you like it already, if you haven't then it's time you start out! This book has interesting characters, a fun adventure and of course an intriguing way of storytelling.
I agree with other reviewers that the start may be slow, but this is a category that probably separates Gemmell from going up to an entirely new level of storytelling. In some parts it feels ... ...I usually find myself losing track of the last few pages after I've read them in these moments and need to retrack for a little bit. That's when I know that this part was probably put in at a later time, it doesn't synch with the rest of the book.
All in all, another masterpeice and the sequel seems just as good if not better.
Davids books have a sense of perfection and legends constantly in the making. There is a great mix of action adventure, ...

Winter Warrioring!
Review of Winter Warriors - David Gemmell by
ironic_anathema
Advantages: Gripping fantasy story
Disadvantages: You have to be a fan of this genre to enjoy it
...to in the near future. Winter Warriors has a little of everything- fighting, character development, heart-warming moments, and sad moments. The character Bison is a wonderfully gruff man who is in fact very kind-hearted, and several other characters are as deep and interesting as this too.
It's a good read, not too long and contains just the right amount of detail, but as with many books, you really need to be a fan of the genre to appreciate it ...

The Grey Man will get you...
Review of Waylander III: Hero in the Shadows - David Gemmell by
Fearghul
Advantages: Outstanding characters and excellent plot
Disadvantages: Closely tied to earlier novels.
...have read the previous two Waylander novels. You will regret not reading them first.
With that out of the way, this novel is on par with the brilliance of the first Waylander novel and contains scenes that rival the excellent opening of that first book.
Gemmell has an excellent sense of style, a certain elan that gives his work a compelling quality. His writing style is economical, letting events speak for themselves rather than leading the reader ... ...sense of closure to the waylander series of novels and does stand well on its own as a seperate book, but is simply stunning when taken as part of the trilogy. Any who enjoys the work of Gemmell will love this...those who are new to his works however are recommended to start with Waylander or Legend rather than this... ...

Fantastic read
Review of Wolf in Shadow - David Gemmell by
wemstalker
Advantages: The whole thing
Disadvantages: None
Wolf in shadow, well this story is certainly not in anyone’s shadow; once again it’s Gemmell at his best. Although I felt that the hero of this book (Jon Shannow) was pretty similar to Waylander the Slayer, as in his no nonsense way of getting things done, it didn’t detract from the read. (Far from it)
The basic plot outline goes thus; it has been three hundred years since the world foundered and fell from its axis, and our culture ... ...they have made one fatal mistake, they upset Jon Shannow and now find themselves facing the most deadliest warrior of the new age – The Jerusalem Man!
In closing, if you’re a fan of Gemmell this is most definitely for you.
Wolf in Shadow – Fantastic!

In The Realm Of The Wolf
Review of Waylander II: in the Realm of the Wolf - David Gemmell by
Andy.mack
Advantages: An excellent story, perhaps better than the first
Disadvantages: None
...left his former life as Waylander the slayer behind to be a woodsman and family man. The death of his wife hit him hard but he has continued to look after his two daughters. Some however do not believe he has left his former life behind and want to make sure that Waylander can never rise again. A group of the worlds most deadly assassins are hunting Dakeyras as someone is worried what he may be capable of should he find out what has happened since ... ...The return of Waylander to Gemmell's Drenai series is an incredibly welcome one. I've been slowly working my way through this series and Waylander is quite clearly the best character Gemmell has come up with to date. The character has everything about him that makes an engrossing story. He is in a way an Anti hero as he fights his way through the lands of the Nadir and despite all adversity still seems to be able to rise to any challenge.
If anything ...
