Review of Witches' Brew - A Magic Kingdom of Landover Novel - Terry Brooks by SarahP

Advantages: All the Landover stories are excellent for both lovers of fantasy books and comedy books
Disadvantages: May need to read rest in series to fully appreciate the book

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, was ages ago that I read it but can still remember it, as with all the Landover series. This is the sixth book in the Landover series, and by the look of it the last. The hero is Ben Holiday, a man from our world who saw an advert in a christmas catalogue that had been to interesting to pass up, the chance to be King of a land where childhood stories are real. Being unhappy with his mundane life he went for it and ...
...cope various hardships and of course disbelief that he was actually there. He has an adviser called Abanathy, who was accidently turned into a dog by another adviser, a wizard called Questor Thews. These two are constantly bickering which makes for funny reading. By the time this story happens Ben thinks that he has finally found peace in Landover as all conflicts are over and he is happy to sit back and watch his daughter, Mistaya, grow from a seedling. ... A great addition to an excellent series
Review of Jarka Ruus: High Druid of Shannara - Terry Brooks by corkeyboy

Advantages: Up to Terry Brooks usual standard
Disadvantages: It helps to have read the Isle witch books

...I picked a copy of Jarka Ruus up from a second hand book stall while I was away from home on business. 10 pages in and I was hooked. I havent read the Isle Witch trilogy but its a testimony to how good this book was that I went and bought a copy when I got home. For anybody who isnt familiar with the Isle witch books and beyond, it is a slight departure in that it manages to seamlessly blend in a bit of sci-fi. Flying solar powered warships with ... Good Read
Review of The Elves of Cintra (Genesis of Shannara) - Terry Brooks by D.a.v.e

Advantages: Good if Brooks is a favourite author of yours
Disadvantages: Otherwise No

...enjoy this second book in the series. This book is action packed in parts but Brooks does not leave out the detail. Fantastically written, this is an excellent book for fantasy fans. Although in some parts, this book will not make much sense unless the other two series are read, namely the Word and the Void and the Shannara series, Heritage and the Sword. In conclusion this book is an excellent read for a fan of Brooks but otherwise don't expect ... Read review

And the Word was... urm
Review of A Knight of the Word - Terry Brooks by Calypte

Advantages: Nice, easy-to-read writing style; good second half
Disadvantages: In depth 'tour of Seattle' gets in the way a bit; very linear plotline; the sylvan

...series, turned his hand to a more ‘real world’ style - well, modern USA-set, but with demons and woodland creatures abound. The Word And The Void trilogy contains, somewhat unsurprisingly, three books: Running With The Demon, A Knight Of The Word, and Angel Fire East. All three are currently available in paperback form, and as you can see, this is a review of the second instalment. Now, despite not having been entirely convinced by the ...
...to finish things. Is that a recommendation of sorts? Hey - it wasn’t bad enough to stop me! ;) Although I have reviewed Running With The Demon, a brief overview for those too lazy to go look it up (kidding!): •¤• Running With The Demon •¤• In the small US town of Hopewell, 14-year-old Nest Freemark has strange magical abilities. She sees feeders - abhorrent little creatures that feed on negative emotions. She also ... Read review
