...and eventually decided on the Hotpoint FF175BP Which was well within out budget of £400, it was also A rated and was in white in colour. Getting it home Yippee! its delivered, unwrapped and now ready for me to plug in that's after I read the 7 page instruction guide, the guide is very easy and starlight forward with good little tip on how to set the appliance up for the first time, how to clean any spills that occur and how to contact the manufacturer if you have any additional problems. Cold comfort
Review of Hotpoint FF 175 B by flet1

Advantages: price (direct from manufacturers), design
Disadvantages: other parts of the design!

...buying it - my previous Hotpoint had failed after a mere 4 years, the warranty I bought was declared invalid and my best bet was to buy a new product at a discount. Not the best way to choose an appliance. At first it suffered from comparison with the previous (non-functioning) model - I am still missing the wine rack in particular. I hate the way that though we chose the most similar model still available, the internal dimensions have all been ...
...fit into the new one. That said, I'm getting used to this model. There seems to be a lot of wasted space inside. Perhaps the shelves designed by someone with very different shopping habits, though I can't think what they'd want the very tall top shelf for. The door space is rather tight for a standard 2 litre milk carton - surely a very ordinary thing to want to put in a family fridge. But there are some improvements: you can see what's in the top ... Great medium sized fridge freezer
Review of Hotpoint FF 187 E by davydoug

Advantages: Big freezer compartment...and fridge section
Disadvantages: A bit bulky

...for the kitchen was this Hotpoint FF187E fridge freezer. Well technically we bought the FF187EG - which is the exact same model only in graphite, rather than white (it is also available in satin aluminium, which is probably the colour you'd get if you were to mix white and graphite together). When looking to buy our fridge freezer (FF) we noticed that a lot of the ones on the market seem to have larger fridge sections and smaller freezer ones. I ...
...fresh food, or if they have additional separate freezers to put more stuff into? I just know that we were looking for one that had at roughly half of the space given up for the freezer drawers due to our reliance on freezing food. The FF187 doesn't quite have a half fridge/half freezer set up, but it was the closest we could find in our price range and it copes easily with the demands we put on in (2 adults). *** Fridge Section *** There are 4 ... Great looks but dodgy performance
Review of Baumatic Retro 2 IV/SL by Dasher

Advantages: Looks good, lots of space, well fitted-out
Disadvantages: problems with refrigerant may ruin the compressor and lead to very expensive repair.

...than two years old. Baumatic immediately sent out a new compressor ( a very expensive part, I believe) with no quibbles, but told us that we would have to pay labour costs ourselves - also that they had no engineers in our part of the country, so we would have to find one ourselves. This took a lot of 'phoning around, but we eventually got it fixed - a complicated repair, it took the engineer well over three hours' work, at a repair cost of £230 ... Read review
