Nice little strummer
Review of Applause Encore W250 acoustic guitar by
temporalbandit
Advantages: Great all-round starter and practice instrument
Disadvantages: Tuning heads have degraded with age
I think I should mention first that this guitar isn't by Applause, even though it's in that section. It's actually manufactured by Encore, who are fairly well known in the world of beginner- level instruments.
The Encore W250 dreadnaught-style acoustic guitar is solidly built- I've had mine for a few years now, and it shows no sign of giving up. Whilst a couple of the tuning heads have rusted a bit, and started to rattle a little, the guitar still ... ...little scuffed but otherwise in good condition.
In playing position, this guitar feels good. It's solid, and feels comfortable perched on one knee. The right hand can easily reach a comfortable playing position, whether you fingerpick or strum with a plectrum, and the neck is solid and a comfortable width in the left hand.
In terms of range, this guitar is about average, with 20 frets and a standard nut (there is no zero fret). The bridge is positioned ...

Jumping Flies In Manchester
Review of Crafter Mahalo Soprano Ukulele by
Champ666
Advantages: Great Fun and Easy to Play
Disadvantages: Chaep Construction but Still Fun
What sort of girlfriend buys her boyfriend a Green Ukulele for Valentines Day?
The answer is simple a very loving kind and understanding one. More importantly one that listens to her boyfriend when he points them out in the window of Forsythe's on Deansgate. They only cost 20 quid and I am sure that a quick search on google or EBay will sort out anyone who does not live in Manchester with multicoloured Ukulele fun..............
The Ukulele is commonly ... ...The Ukulele is essentially a very small four stringed guitar. This model is a Soprano Ukulele which is usually tuned in the chord of C6: G-C-E-A from low to high, with the G-string traditionally tuned an octave up. This means that each string apart from the C string can be tuned using a digital guitar tuner by depressing the fourth fret and plucking it, which should be an E (if my memory serves me well).
This Ukulele being on the definite budget ...

She Was The Only One Who Could Really Satisfy Me
Review of Crafter TD-06 by
Paiceyjohn
Advantages: Looks great, sounds great, well put together
Disadvantages: No scratch guard
...VITAL STATISTICS
The Crafter TD-06 is a Dreadnought style, fully acoustic guitar. It has a solid spruce top with mahogany sides and back. The top has a very pale matt finish and the detailing round the sound hole is very attractive and unusual. The only downside here is that there is no scratch guard.
The neck is rosewood and abalone with inlaid markers on the front and side in the third, fifth, seventh, ninth, twelfth (two), 15th and 17th of its ... ...merchant, explained to me that Crafter were a Korean company who had only recently entered the guitar-making market. Like the Japanese companies (e.g. Yamaha) twenty years ago, there has been a recent influx of Korean companies making instruments (I think Takamine are another one?) The upshot is they are making good quality instruments but selling them relatively cheaply in an attempt to gain market share. So it sounded like this baby was a bargain.

A really great guitar
Review of Epiphone AJ-10 Acoustic Guitar by
bumfilter
Advantages: Beautiful sound, build quality and great price
Disadvantages: Strings, strap pin
...load of guitar at the Epiphone price.
All in all a great guitar that I would highly recommend to anyone considering buying an acoustic guitar or even this particular model, its a lot better than the guitars that can be bought elsewhere for the same or even dearer price. ...

Martin DM
Review of Martin DM Acoustic Guitar by
superandyp
Advantages: warm sound, For a range of styles, time proven dreadnaught design.
Disadvantages: Laminated back and sides
...and blues fingerstyle and the Martin suits my style of playing. The guitar has a solid spruce top and laminated mahogany back and sides giving it a very warm sound that has improved after playing. My first impressions of the guitar was how well it was built. It had no rough edges and no other noticable imperfections. When buying the guitar i was considering a Taylor 214 and a Yamaha LL. I recomend buying the Taylor equivelent if a brighter sound ... ...that Bert Jansch gets out of his, and at this price you are paying a bit more money for the Martin heritage. After a year of owning it i have found that the top of the guitar marks easily and the body has become shiny where my arm has rested. ...
