Review of Maxtor OneTouch 4 Mini 250 GB by
millieanna
Advantages: simple to use, good looking too
Disadvantages: none
...wheel come off, then the Maxtor OneTouch 4 Mini could be the solution for you. Basically it is a small 11cm x 7cm x1cm silver and black hard drive (slightly larger than a pack of cards)which is capable of storing all your documents at a touch of a button or on a schedule and as importantly , it has the capacity to recover all the contents of your hard drive should you have a complete computer disaster.
The One Touch Mini comes in three capacities, ... ...the other end to the Maxtor box, follow on screen instructions for about five minutes installation time, then press the button on the front of the Maxtor to back up your files. The back up of all my music, photos, documents etc took about 4 minutes. Usually this takes me forever when I run my Norton back up.
After this initial back up you can either remove the appliance or leave it plugged in (It powers itself from the computer) and back up according ...

Seagate 250Gb Hard drive
Review of Seagate Hard drive 250 GB by
andyyaris
Advantages: Quite cool good capacity
Disadvantages: Poor reliablity
This product is a bit of a double edged sword. The down side is that my second one of these has just failed after returning my orgional to the supplier after a Harddrive failure, the same has just happened. the Drive is quite bulky, however this does not have much on an impact.
The plus points. Everything you need comes in the box, power supply usb cables extra. Its is very stright forward to use, plug all the relavet cables in, switch it on and ... ...have partitioned mine 50/50 with NTFS and FAT32, so i can keep very large work files and use it with my PS3. The formatting process was no different to any other Harddrive.
It is relativly quite, runs fairly cool and generally gives good transfer speeds. there have never been any bad sectors on either drive, when i have run scandisk.
The only problems i have unfortunatly have been a total cease of usage, on the first occasion the harddrive itself ...

Maxtor external drive fails the test
Review of Maxtor OneTouch 4 250 GB by
cootuk
Advantages: HDD appears well protected in its casing
Disadvantages: psu failed within two hours -poor design?
...sweetspot at the moment.
Maxtor are one of several companies that offer an out-of-the-box solution that requires no construction. or technical knowledge.
The Maxtor HDD comes in a rubber housing complete with a psu, manual, usb cable, and software preloaded onto the disc.
Installation into both Vista and XP was simply plug-and-play, and the hdd contains some basic backup software. Once the software is installed, then backups can be pre-set to ... ...at predefined times, or at the request of the user.
The speed of transfer is limited in this case due to the USB connection, but good enough for occasional backups. Major bad point:-
The supplied psu has a slide off adaptor which adapts the 240V power connection to UK 3pin or Euro 2pin. The psu failed within a couple of hours, with evidence of arcing on one of the contacts where the slide off adaptor clips to the main unit, despite the connector ...
