Seagate makes life easier with this hard drive .
Review of FreeAgent Desktop 250 GB by dorach86

Advantages: cheap, fast, great design, easy to use, 250GB
Disadvantages: NONE

...would recommend this drive to anyone who needs and external hard disk with a high capacity. Even if you need more than 250g, it's worth buying one from the Seagate. If in the future I need a disk with a higher capacity I will get a FreeAgent from Seagate. ... Read review

A fast, quiet hard drive
Review of Samsung SpinPoint S250 HD250HJ 250 GB by fatnickccash

Advantages: Fast, quiet, cheap
Disadvantages: Can get better value with bigger HDDs, may be too small for some

The Samsung Spinpoint has, for the past year or so, been the hard drive of choice for those looking for good value. I needed a new hard drive recently, and I had no reservations whatsoever about getting this. When it arrived, I installed it and was immediately impressed at how much quicker my computer felt to use. Perhaps this was mainly due to the reinstallation of Windows, but nevertheless the hard drive was performing better than my previous ...
...The SATA II interface allows for fast data transfer, and I could copy files about my series of folders with great speed. This model is only 250GB, and so is inevitably not quite as good value as the 500GB model (in terms of £/GB, where it sits at about £0.17/GB compared to £0.12/GB), but I cannot see myself using any more than what is provided, and unless you have an extensive media collection it's probably worth saving the ~£20 and getting this ... 7200.10 250GB very good HDD
Review of Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250 GB by piotrekpol

Advantages: 16 MB Cache, 7200 RPM, fairly quiet, Very fast
Disadvantages: none

...be lost. ( I trust Seagate I never had a failure of their drive out of about 10 i had so far ) Average Read is 165 MB/s Average Write is 136 MB/s I am using my PC to edit movies and i am working on many GB of data on each project. Having drives in Raid 0 mode increased a lot speed of many operations. I have a standard Midi Case and i must say that i can't hear the drives, my PC is very quiet all fans are running on 5V ... The Silent Performer
Review of Samsung SpinPoint P120 SP2504C 250 GB by ghost101

Advantages: Quiet and Reliable
Disadvantages: Slightly more expensive some other companies

...the item. Firstly, the Samsung Spinpoint drives are very silent and can hardly be heard over the system and CPU fan. Ive used several hard drives from Western Digital before this and I am also impressed by its better performance even though they are both 7200rpm SATA2 drives. The capacity of the drive is 250GB and quite frankly, that is a huge amount of storage for music and pictures. Video on the other hand eats up storage like theres no tomorrow. ...
...Seagate Barracuda. I believe my Samsung Spinpoint performs better more quietly yet is usually a good 5-10% cheaper. I would seriously advise people get drives from better brands as data loss can be devastating. I would advise to everyone who can afford it, to run a RAID 1 array so that you dont lose data if a hard drive fails. Thank you ... Read review

Seagate 7200RPM SATA 300 Hard Drive
Review of Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 400 GB by TheTechGuy0

Advantages: Fast with large files, quiet fast with small files, quiet, doesn't struggle with large files.
Disadvantages: May need defragging alot.

I have this drive pre installed in my computer and the first thing i realised was that it was extremely FAST; i had tested the drive on a hard drive benchmarking program called 'HDTach'. This is as on my HP'm7635', using this drive i got a burst speed of 210 MB/s and a average read rate of 70MB/s; both are extremely fast. I also realised that this drive was extremely quiet; being installed in my media cennter PC it wasn't exactly a suprise though. ...
...the context of everyday computng this hard drive is very fast, windows loads up very quickly. You can force large files down the hard drive and it wont struggle; though i still recommend that you defragmentate the drive on a regular basis for optimal speed. To expand on my statement of what fast is, i mean to say that the drive is able to handle copying of large files such as movies very quickly. The drive is also fast in seeking files from a random ...
