Advantages: Silent, compact, very nice look with blue lights
Disadvantages: Wrong size cable for me, but suitable for most PCs

I bought this as my hard drive on my laptop was getting full to the extent that it was getting a bit slow. This is basically a hard drive like in every computer but it attaches to a USB port in your computer. Unfortunately firewire hasn't taken off as much as USB so there is a possibility that your computer may not have one. This product is a bit of a double edged sword. The down side is that my second one of these has just failed after returning my orgional to the supplier after a Harddrive failure, the same has just happened. the Drive is quite bulky, however this does not have much on an impact. ...have partitioned mine 50/50 with NTFS and FAT32, so i can keep very large work files and use it with my PS3. The formatting process was no different to any other Harddrive. It is relativly quite, runs fairly cool and generally gives good transfer speeds. there have never been any bad sectors on either drive, when i have run scandisk. Wester Digital, a respected brand name, and i agree! I have owned the unit now for around 2 years, and have 0 problems. My internal hard drive has died on me twice but my external one, never! This 80gb HDD is perfect for storing large files, home movies, photo albums, music etc. It's ideal when transfering data from one place to another, simply unplug it, plug it in elsehwre and hey presto! It supports drag & drop so moving files couldn't be easier. ...

Advantages: When working - Fast, convenient, massive capacity.
Disadvantages: Not reliable

Started off very well. Plug and play as promised, via USB. Very easy to use, quick access : very simple to create folders and upload all those things you want to backup (you do keep backups, don't you?!). So on went all my MP3s, pictures, software, in case of a disk crash on my PC No problems for the first 8 months. Then it stopped working.
