Very Easy to Use
Review of Maxtor Basics Personal Storage 3200 320 GB by
streetsmart
Advantages: Easy, affordable
Disadvantages: None
...and broken. As Maxtor is using USB port the data transfer speed is quite good. Its just like when we are copying and pasting data from one folder to another, its really like that easy. I have purchased it in December 2006 in after christmas sales from PC World in nearly £80 and since then I am using it constantly without any problem. It is used like my regualr hard disk attached with my computer. Its good for everyone, either an IT professional with ...

HDD 300 gb
Review of Maxtor OneTouch III FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 300 GB by
Aka2097
Advantages: USB 2.0 and Firewire
Disadvantages: Not the lightest thing around 1.5kg
First of all this HDD id like to say this is a very good HDD but it not to good if your planning to carry it around it ways around 1.5kg and then there's the power cable, the drive is big too 13.6 cm x 6.5 cm x 21.7 cm, so not very portable.
The HDD capacity is 300GB but actually is slightly less around 285GB. The HDD use USB 2 and Firewire (6 pin) using the USB cable data transfer is very fast about 450mbs with a good USB card and the same goes ... ...The average seek time is around 9ms. The internal buffer size is 16mb with really makes this HDD very fast at reading and writhing. It has a standard spindle speed of 7200rpm.
The installation is extremely simple just plug and play and it does jut that well with XP it does. This is great value for money as long as you intend to leave it at home. ...

The Solution
Review of Maxtor Basics Personal Storage 3200 300 GB by
Coloneljohn
Advantages: Large storage volume. Very quiet.
Disadvantages: No off switch, (personal) otherwise none
...I liked this one. The Maxtor Basics 3200. The drive is in a nice plastic case with a rather flimsy foot to hold it upright. You get the drive, the foot, a transformer and cables, a USB cable and a quick guide in the box. With some you have to buy the drive and a separate case and install the drive in the case yourself. No need here as it is already done.
The drive is compatible with USB 2 and 1.1, which is useful as I do not have USB 2 fitted yet.
... ...do is three steps. Connect the stand, connect the power, and then connect the USB. That's it! The machine will recognise the drive at once and you are ready to go at once. You do NOT have to go into the management and set up the drive with partitions and formatting. This has already been done for you. There are NO drives to install either. The site instruction says that an internet connection for update is required. I assume that this will work in ...

Vast storage and convenience.
Review of Maxtor OneTouch III USB 2.0 300 GB by
fynci.mynci
Advantages: Easy installation, simple to use
Disadvantages: Not really portable, might run slow on an older computer.
...with motherboard and power connections, Maxtor have the perfect solution to improve your storage problems. This external drive will run along side your normal drive via a USB connection.
Although the drive is removable and portable it is not ideally suited to being transported. It measures approximately 10 inches x 6 inches x 2 inches deep (25cm x 15cm x 5cm) and weighs about 1kg. The external finish is robust but I wouldn't recommend leaving this ... ...from internal hard drives. Maxtor have developed the One Touch system which comprises of a large button on the front of the drive. Pressing this button the drive will automatically back up all of the files from your internal hard disk drives. This function does take some time which will vary depending upon the speed of your PC, but it does provide an easy and relatively cheap way of backing up files, ideal for a small office.
Installation of the ...

Maxtor!!
Review of Maxtor DiamondMax 10 320 GB by
Tencents
Advantages: Fast, Reliable, Quiet
Disadvantages: Heat (but all drives do)
...and today I insist on, Maxtor drives. I own (and still use) 9 drives in my machine (30gigs short of 2 terra's) - they are Maxtor: 40, 80, 160 (ide), 300, 300, 320, 320 (sata). I also have two Western Dig's 200 and 250 (ide) - they're ok I guess... I love my Maxtor drives though (touch wood) I have never had a problem... ever... okay there was one time I drank too much at a LAN party and formatted the wrong drive, and then there were a lot of times ...
