The instruction manual repeatedly implies that the scart socket can be used to input a Dolby Digital surround signal, but this is totally incorrect and misleading, and frankly makes you wonder if anyone at Philips knows what they're talking about. ...way of doing it. The Philips software intercepts the signal, and in my hands at least, insists on displaying it at low res. Very frustrating! I've always been a fan of Philips products in the past, but sadly this half-baked offering has made me change my mind. Advantages: really new and modern design
Disadvantages: only in black

...dvd or jpeg now with samsung you can read divx ,wmp,just plug your i pod in the sistem and see and listen your photo.what about sound quality and video quality ,is really really good with no only the only normal and old prologic but now have prologic 2 with so different mode ,and if you watching for db is in haugh for your living room. Advantages: excellent sound quality
Disadvantages: base of speakers takes up more space than expected

The sound quality through these speakers is excellent and the sub woofer is fantastic. The DVD player can play just about anything but found when I played a CD in it there was no screensaver so you have to make sure you press the button to bring up the CD information or you run the risk of getting screen burn or so my husband says. We use ours with a samsug TV, I don't know if this makes a difference or not but I have fund that the DVD player woks ...
...I think it may have been a little tricky to install but my husband did it and it seemed to take quite a long time. I find the speakers although they are quite sleek looking they still take up quite a lot of unnecessary floor space due to the big bases. Overall I would recommend this to anyone who asked. ... Advantages: Great picture, nice and loud but doesnt lose the crispness and beautifully designed!
Disadvantages: Goes wll with samsung tele's, maybe not so with other manufacturers

...this hooked up to my Samsung 556, the DVD player has 1080p upscaling which produces an image to rival that of most blue ray players! It also has samsungs new automatic link up function which means only one controller is needed, when you turn the DVD player on, the tv automatically switches on and goes to the correct channel, although i believe you need a HDMI cable for this, although these arent too expensive if you browse, a £25 one from amazon/play ...
