Good sorround system for cheap proce
Review of Philips HTS 3357 by
maximaracer_95
Advantages: Uses pro logic surround, user freindly
Disadvantages: weak sub woofer.
Its perfect for an apartment type housing. Personaly i thnk the sub woofer is a little weak. The DVD player plays just about all the formats such as SVCD, MPEG, AVI and DIVX. One of the cool feature it had is the Ipod dock system. You can listen to your ipod and even watch movies from it, if you have a video Ipod. Just connect the AV connection to the dock and ready to watch. It will work with any type of Ipode or even Zune because it had the adapters ...

Fantastic sounds all around from my surround!
Review of Panasonic SC-PT 150 by
andycharger
Advantages: Great sound and price
Disadvantages: Looks a bit dated and remote fiddly
...and feel, the retro feel Panasonic PT-150 is a sure winner with me.
Reason for purchase.
After setting up my old fireplace as a "hole in the wall" entertainment system, I experienced one major problem with my Sony surround sount system. It stopped working. Reason being that old soot and debris had fallen down the chimney and filtered through the air vents into the workings and shorted it out!
Not to be put off my my idea, i fixed the falling soot ... ...Surround sound that fitted with the room and matched the other items.
This would need it to be Silver in colour, the same width dimensions as the Sony ( to fit on the mounts) and thin in height (to fit in the narrow clearance). IT would also need the following conenctions so I could connect it directly to me set up. At least 1 Scart for the Sky X box, Phono plugs for connecting the Xbox 360 sound and built in DVD player to prevent buying a new separate ...

Who says you only get what you pay for !
Review of Philips HTS 3154 by
yrrab
Advantages: Multi featured CD, DVD, USB, MP3 TV SURROUND SOUND
Disadvantages: Not wireless!
This is an amazing bargain. I was replacing an old hifi but thought I would get a surround sound system. Not only does it play cd's and dvd's but will play from an MP3 player or a memory card (using a reader) via usb or from a headphone socket on an MP3 player. I was diappointed when I tried to play from my laptop via a usb bluetooth dongle , but it came up 'unsupported' Ah well , you can't have everything. It also can give surround sound for whatever ... ...HTS 3100 was recommended in 'Which' magazine and for the features and price I would imagine this one will be. I haven't yet hidden the cables, its my next job! I paid £94 at amazon. I highly recommend this for the cost and features. It sounds pretty good to me.
NB: I have found out since I wrote the review that this is recommended by Which online. ...

Samsung htx-30
Review of Samsung HT-X30 by
kinganto
Advantages: clean looking, excellent quailty, low price, great sound
Disadvantages: not a full hd player
Having purchased the Samsung HT-X30 in a package deal with a Samsung 42" plasma, i can say that i was impressed staright away.
The main dvd unit is the same piano black as my tv, with an eluminated blue power button, again the same as my tv. This system upscales into HD, 1080 to precise, when coupled to an hdtv via a hdmi cable the quality is outstanding, maybe not as good as a genuine hd player, but not bad. I had a top of the range pano 1000w ...

Goodmans 1990 DVDF
Review of Goodmans 1990DVD by
markybaby76
Advantages: Cheap, Built In Freeview, Small, Compact, Pleasing to the eye
Disadvantages: Poor Sound quality, No Dolby Pro Logic, getts hot
I purchased this based on price. Big mistake! While it does have alot of features including Freeview, the sound quality is awful if you connect all the speakers. Basically if you connect the subwoofer it creates a buzzing sound that is very intrusive ant any volume, even if you press mute on the remote the subwoofer buzzes away. The remedy for this I found was to disconnect the subwoofer and change the sound settings to joint stereo, but then you ... ...that it has a place in the home as an economy 5.1 home entertainment system. It has Freeview, CD/DVD with Jpeg and MP3 support, plays DIVX Files, FM/MW radio, optical output and AUX in. But it appears that price matters when you but audio equipment, but on a plus note it plays DIVX and I have only just discovered this so I have rerated the product based on this feature as I see it as a majour plus. ...
