*SONY* gets cheaper
Review of Sony DAV-SB 100 by
alan74
Advantages: In-Built DD 5.1 & DTS Decoders
Disadvantages: Cannot be hacked, must be either chipped, or CD Rom encoder.
The Sony DAV-SB100 is without any doubt the most affordable Sony Home Theatre System on the market. This product would be totally ideal for anyone, who as yet hasn’t turned to the theatre systems and wants to, without splashing too much cash. It would also be ideal for all students at college and university.
The DAV-SB100 contains five satellite speakers and one passive sub-woofer. WEGA theatre brings together the complete range of Sony AV products ... ...behind the sofa!
The Sony DAV-SB100 isn’t just a DVD player, it will also play a huge range of other items, such as;
DVD-R, DVD-RW (Video Mode), CD, CD-R, CD-RW, VIDEO-CD, MP3 & J-PEG Playback.
It also has the following;
S-Master Full Digital Amplifier
Dolby Digital/DTS/Dolby Pro-Logic II Decoders
Digital Cinema Sound
RDS Tuner
Scart RGB
Not only that, it’s extremely stylish, (comes in Silver) and will look good with any other system. Most ...

Not up to Samsungs usual standard
Review of Samsung HT-X 200 by
dmc22
Advantages: Good styling and easy set up
Disadvantages: Poor value for money and sound not adjustable
...and links well with a Samsung TV using the 'Anytime system, plus the clean sleek glossy styling is easy on the eye. The downside is that the bass is too deep and not adjustable, and a very noticable 'static noise' comes in after about half an hour after the system has been switched on. I have heard since that others have noticed this only through a games console but i have had the same effect through watching satellite and terrestial TV. I queried ...

Review of Philips HTS 3154 by

Advantages: Multi featured CD, DVD, USB, MP3 TV SURROUND SOUND
Disadvantages: Not wireless!
This is an amazing bargain. I was replacing an old hifi but thought I would get a surround sound system. Not only does it play cd's and dvd's but will play from an MP3 player or a memory card (using a reader) via usb or from a headphone socket on an MP3 player. I was diappointed when I tried to play from my laptop via a usb bluetooth dongle , but it came up 'unsupported' Ah well , you can't have everything. It also can give surround sound for whatever ... ...HTS 3100 was recommended in 'Which' magazine and for the features and price I would imagine this one will be. I haven't yet hidden the cables, its my next job! I paid £94 at amazon. I highly recommend this for the cost and features. It sounds pretty good to me.
NB: I have found out since I wrote the review that this is recommended by Which online. ...

Panasonic SC-HT340
Review of Panasonic SC-HT 340 by
MattUtd
Advantages: Great Value for a Brand Name
Disadvantages: No infra-red speakers
This is a great entry level home cinema system for less than £150. I bought this about 12 months ago from Richer Sounds during one of their sales. It's very easy to install as all the wires are colour coded so even a novice will understand what to do. The instructions are pretty self-explanatory so within 30 minutes you should have it ready to go. The only down-side with non infra-red systems like this is the fact there's lots of wires. You've basically ... ...to the DVD player. As you can imagine the amount of wire behind your TV will build up. The picture quality is pretty good and the sound is more than enough to fill a standard size living room. Other benefits include the built-in FM/AM radio but it's not DAB. You can also play CDs in this system which makes it a great alternative to your Hi-Fi.
The remote control allows you to adjust a range of options including sound and picture quality.
For those ...
