Just when you thought it safe, little sod returns
Review of Little Sod's Next Step (How to Be a Little Sod Book 2) - Simon Brett by
oldredeyes
Advantages: Very funny, easy to read
Disadvantages: leaves you wanting more
Little Sod’s next step, subtitled - How to be a little Sod, book 2 is author Simon Brett’s second volume in this series of three comical books about the baby from hell. The baby in question is supposedly the author of this regular diary and so everything is recorded from the baby’s point of view. That is not only part of the joke but adds immensely to the appeal and novelty of the idea of the book. The books are written in a diary entry format having ... ...series, How to be a Little Sod (subtitled How to be a Little Sod Book 1) has already been excellently reviewed by Ciao member JoJammy, a review I would definitely recommend reading. This first volume covers the baby’s first year. Book 2 is a natural progression through the next year of the tot’s life. No names are ever mentioned, even for the Baby and the parents are simply called Him and Her. This might seem an odd approach but it works.

Not as you might expect
Review of Sex and the City - Candace Bushnell by
mu55inthemule
Advantages: Not many !
Disadvantages: Not at all like the TV Show
Well I got this book from my local library thinking it would help get over the fact that my favorite TV series of all time has ended!
This is the book the show is based apon and so I thought it would be great.
The only way I can describe it is strange! And the amount of characters is so enormous it just ended it giving me a headache!
The book takes through the lives of many characters in New York City, the nights out at Bowery Bar, the relationship ... ...But to be honest there are so many seperate character stores to try and follow that it becomes almost impossible.
Candace Bushnell is the author and to be honest I think it was a good job that Michael Patrick King bought the rights to make the show as otherwise I imagine sales would be much less.
Unfortunately I cannot write much more about it, as quite frankly I didn’t really know what was going on myself! My advice would be to just enjoy ...

OUT OF MY INBOX . . . AND INTO THE WRONG ONE!!!
Review of Great Email Disasters - Chas Newkey-Burden by
Pmshack99
Advantages: funny, engrossing, interesting
Disadvantages: it's all true (therefore can be horrifying)
It's happened to us all, hasn't it? The feeling of fear and horror and absolute dread that creeps over you two seconds after you've clicked "send" on an email . . . and realised you've sent it to the wrong person. I've had it and if I had any doubt that I was the only one this had ever happened to, then reading "Great Email Diasters" clued me in bigtime.
So HAS it happened to you? It's happened to me on a few occasions, and has happened with text ... ...to do - you accidentally hit "reply all" on a round-robin email, or start typing someone's name into the "send to" field and don't notice it has automatically been populated by someone from your company address book, or you've just not been thinking properly. For example, me and my friend Sarah were one day having a conversation about a student who had been annoying both of us, and at the same time as we were emailing about this, Sarah was emailing ...

Hilarious tales of life on the Hebrides
Review of The Hills is Lonely - Lilian Beckwith by
concat
Advantages: Lovely light reading to bring out a smile or two
Disadvantages: None
The Hills is Lonely is one of a set of books by this author and once you've read one you want to get them all. Miss Beckwith is sent to stay on a Hebridian island to convalesce and finds a culture far removed from her suburban life. The characters come to life vividly as does the harsh scenery. Comedy prevails throughout even at funerals you find yourself smiling at the antics of some of the locals. Her landlady Morag takes her on her visits to the ... ...with huge doses of bicarb. The rooms are smoke filled from the peat fires and you can feel your eyes smarting as she talks.
Time means nothing here - asked when the Post office opened she was told that it depended when the postwoman got her milking finished. Miss Beckwith throws her lot in with the locals to join in the milking , cutting peat and fishing out of a small boat. It could sound boring but nothing is straightforward here and simple tasks ...

Ladies and Gents, embrace your inner Pikey.
Review of Oi Pikey! A celebration of Cheap Living - Carrie-Anne Brackstone, Laura Bushell by
koshkha
Advantages: So funny you'll wet yourself - buy in some own brand nappies
Disadvantages: You may be forced to come to terms with your own behaviour
Ladies and Gentlemen: Embrace your inner pikey.
Be honest now, no cheating. Take a look at the list of questions I have compiled below:
1. Do you have one or more store loyalty cards?
2. Does your pulse race at the sight of a buy-one-get-one free offer?
3. Do you get email alerts every week for what's on special at Aldi?
4. Does the site of your Tesco clubcard vouchers coming through the letterbox fill you with excitement?
5. Have you ever ... ...been to a boot fair, a jumble sale or a TK Maxx or Matalan?
7. Ever bought or sold on eBay?
8. Ever taken home the soaps from a hotel visit?
9. Ever signed up for online surveys?
10. Ever written a first review so you could get double money for the first month?
OK, hands up if you match on at least two of those criteria…………..that's what I expected, more hands than I can count. And how many of you are matching most of them? Again, quite a few. ...
