Comic Genius
Review of Calvin and Hobbes - Bill Watterson by
taylor1967
Advantages: Lets you stop thinking about the real world
Disadvantages: Makes you wish you were a kid again
Im a huge Calvin and Hobbes fan everything about the books makes me laugh from Calvins snow art to his dads witty cynism to Hobbes' great flair for fashion (a spotted tie goes great with the striped fur). One of the main themes in all of the books is Calvins feelings for Susie (his neighbour) him and Hobbes start a club G.R.O.S.S (Get Rid Of Slimy girlS) they use a treehouse as their meeting place and discuss what pranks the can play on Susie most ... ...being taken hostage by Susie. Calvin has a great imagination and has a lots of fun as stupendous man who fights trying to make thing right ( at least for Calvin anyway) when he's not stupendous man Calvin mostly has to avoid Hobbes' attacks that prove man wouldnt last a minute in the jungle. Calvin brings up a great deal of points in his school that go unanswered (is cannabalism better than murder as its less wasteful?) and he and his teacher are ...

Calvin and Hobbes... the Sunday Strips
Review of Calvin and Hobbes' Lazy Sunday Book - Bill Watterson by
thebluehippo
Advantages: It's Calvin and Hobbes
Disadvantages: Just Sunday Strips
...we have a collection of Calvin and Hobbes Sunday strips.
For those of you unfamiliar with Calvin and Hobbes it's a comic strip that was created by Bill Watterson and has been syndicated in newspapers for over ten years and still to this day the old strips are reprinted.
The story tells us of Calvin a rather imaginative, intelligent and yet quite troublesome boy and his pet tiger Hobbes. What you soon learn when you start reading the strips is that ... ...only comes to life when Calvin is there is a much talked about issue and many people have written long articles explaining there theory.
To have people do such a thing in the first place over a comic strip shows how much the story of Calvin and his tiger Hobbes touched the lives of those who read it.
A lot of the stories are set in the woodland around Calvin's home, probably being set around the mid-west USA like where Watterson lives. We see Calvin ...

Watterson's Weirdos
Review of Calvin and Hobbes' Weirdos from Another Planet - Bill Watterson by
blodeuedd9
Advantages: A laugh a minute. Or at least a warm smile
Disadvantages: There's a chance of bladder leakage
We welcome the usual Calvin and Hobbes cast back into our hearts... Weirdo's From Another Planet is consistent writing from the genius "graphic novelist" that is Bill Watterson. The book only differs from previous collections in its content. It is still hilarious, it is still heartwarming and remains high above its comic contemporaries.
If you're looking for a Marvel-type superhero strip, this is not the thing for you! This was written primarily ... ...of publishing) are based around Calvin and his sidekick Hobbes. To most of the world, Hobbes is a stuffed tiger. To Calvin, he is a quiet, nature-loving, contemplative friend who counteracts Calvin's childish naievity and impetuousness. We, as the sympathetic viewer, obviously know that Hobbes is totally, utterly and unequivocally real. Despite the outside world's stoic dreamless cynicism!
Other cast members include Calvin's parents, "mom" and "dad", ...

shiguo
Advantages: Everything!!!!!
Disadvantages: none
...so heavy that I got the the postman to help me with it. When I unpacked it, it was wrapped in plastic. The quality of it is excellent. A true quality of a collectible item. I have been reading it since the day i got it. It started of with a brief introduction of bill waterson and his drawings and how calvin and hobbes evolved into the calvin and hobbes we know now. It has the comic strips from 1970's. There are 3 books to read. All my favourite strips ...

Read it and weep...FOR JOY
Review of The Timewaster Letters - Robin Cooper by
Hypernation
Advantages: Hilarious, varied, cheaply available, even has drawings!
Disadvantages: Too short - but there's a second volume!
...Cooper (real name Robert Popper, the man behind some of Look Around you with Simon Pegg and scripter of Series 3 of Peep Show with Radio 4's Mitchell and Webb) is a man of considerable spare time.
To help pass the hours he writes letters to member organizations, rotary clubs, airlines and other venerable organs with bizzarre, nonsensical requests, or just to waste their time with crazed inventions he has made and wishes to share with a rightly disinterested ... ...[End of Correspondence] stamp when the organization simply no longer responds to his absurd and increasingly mental missives. Some of the most outstanding letters include a noise reducing machine known as the Imsimil Berati-Lahn (this made me cackle for a good hour), a machine that harvests mustard from wasps (Waspard!) and an offer to supply Beef Scarecrows (later corrected to 'Beel'!) to a Gardening Centre. And wait til you see the drawings that ...
