OUT OF MY INBOX . . . AND INTO THE WRONG ONE!!!
Review of Great Email Disasters - Chas Newkey-Burden by
Pmshack99
Advantages: funny, engrossing, interesting
Disadvantages: it's all true (therefore can be horrifying)
It's happened to us all, hasn't it? The feeling of fear and horror and absolute dread that creeps over you two seconds after you've clicked "send" on an email . . . and realised you've sent it to the wrong person. I've had it and if I had any doubt that I was the only one this had ever happened to, then reading "Great Email Diasters" clued me in bigtime.
So HAS it happened to you? It's happened to me on a few occasions, and has happened with text ... ...to do - you accidentally hit "reply all" on a round-robin email, or start typing someone's name into the "send to" field and don't notice it has automatically been populated by someone from your company address book, or you've just not been thinking properly. For example, me and my friend Sarah were one day having a conversation about a student who had been annoying both of us, and at the same time as we were emailing about this, Sarah was emailing ...

Past Secrets
Review of Past Secrets - Cathy Kelly by
jules.34
Advantages: A good read
Disadvantages: Everyone seems to change for the better in the book a bit too easily
Cathy Kelly, as usual, has written her book well, full of Irish characters and family.
I have read one of Cathy Kelly's book before and this one was along the same lines. Her books delve deep into the bonds between family and friends. There are lots of references to Ireland in the book so you can just imagine all these characters chatting away in the lovely accent that Irish people have.
The main characters in the book are Christy Devlin, an art ... ...her boyfriend Grey, and Faye Reid, a businesswomen who lives with her 18-year old daughter.
The three characters are all united when something happens in each of their personal lives, something that makes them all look at a secret they have in their past. For Christy, somebody comes back into her life who should never have been in it, for Maggie, she finds out that Grey has been two-timing her and she faces demons from her past, and for Faye, her ...

Not as you might expect
Review of Sex and the City - Candace Bushnell by
mu55inthemule
Advantages: Not many !
Disadvantages: Not at all like the TV Show
Well I got this book from my local library thinking it would help get over the fact that my favorite TV series of all time has ended!
This is the book the show is based apon and so I thought it would be great.
The only way I can describe it is strange! And the amount of characters is so enormous it just ended it giving me a headache!
The book takes through the lives of many characters in New York City, the nights out at Bowery Bar, the relationship ... ...But to be honest there are so many seperate character stores to try and follow that it becomes almost impossible.
Candace Bushnell is the author and to be honest I think it was a good job that Michael Patrick King bought the rights to make the show as otherwise I imagine sales would be much less.
Unfortunately I cannot write much more about it, as quite frankly I didn’t really know what was going on myself! My advice would be to just enjoy ...

Like.... totally..
Review of Trading Up - Candace Bushnell by
cocoklo
Advantages: Easy to read, Witty
Disadvantages: Far too long for a book on this topic
Much to my surprise, I really enjoyed reading this book. I opened the cover and expected to find a series of shallow (and wholly uninteresting) encounters between people I was likely to deem shallow and wholly uninteresting. Instead, I found the backpage reviewers comment of "Jane Austen with a Martini" to be blindingly appropriate. This book is a good read for anyone who enjoys traditional women's fiction or indeed, the wry humour of Jane Austen ... ...goes far to bridging the gap between the two genres.
It follows the story of the young protagonist, Janey Wilcox, lingerie model through her rise and rise through the ranks of the famous and superficial. Through her marriage to the highly 'appropriate' (and far too nice for her), Selden Rose, her sexual exploits as she uses her explosive good looks to get exactly what she wants and to her eventual (and much applauded) downfall, flat on her pretty, ...

Four Dumb Blones
Review of 4 Blondes - Candace Bushnell by
AimeeLouise18
Advantages: slightly entertaining and easy to read
Disadvantages: stupid inappropriate endings, confusing at times, quite boring storylines
...any good?
*** About 4 Blondes ***
When I got this book I expected it to be just like most novels, different chapters, each leading on from the last. However what I actually found was that it was set out a little different. There are four sections within the book. Suddenly I realised those must be for each of the four blondes that the book was about. It was strange because it was set out like short stories are set out, but that couldn’t be true ... ...it, it doesn’t say anything about it being short stories. However, it was true and so the first thing you should know is this is NOT a novel it is simply four short stories rolled into a book and after I’d finished it I realised none of the stories were connected. So without further ado I’ll tell you about each of the four different stories.
*** Nice ‘N’ Easy ***
This is the first story in the book. It follows Janey Wilcox, a B-List model that ...
