An Entertaining Read
Review of Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim - David Sedaris by Sofe1

Advantages: Strange and funny.
Disadvantages: Maybe too strange for some.

...reading from this particular book, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, and after that I “ran” to my favourite online bookstore to place an order. David Sedaris (born 1956 in Binghampton, NY) is a talented humorist and for inspiration he often uses his family, his Greek heritage, his homosexuality and the problems that come with moving to another country as he now lives in France with his partner Hugh. However, he is also a radio commentator ...
...I soon will. Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Demin is a collection of autobiographical stories from his past and even though the “characters”, i.e. his family members, are the same throughout, they are separate stories instead of one long one. Growing up in a family with four sisters and only one brother, and being gay at that, is a good basis for many stories that might seem mundane on the surface, but told with the dry sense of humour that David ... Mind-numbing humour- you don't even need a brain!
Review of Dave Gorman's Googlewhack Adventure - Dave Gorman by lost_in_muse

Advantages: Funny and quite interesting really
Disadvantages: A tad unbelievable in places

...would be a review of Dave Gorman's debut novel. But, like just about everyone who works from home, the comic was just too easily distracted to actually get down to the work for which he'd been handsomely paid. Unlike the rest of us, though, Gorman's displacement activities went a bit further than cleaning the oven or cataloguing his CD collection. Instead, he embarked on an adventure that took him several times around the globe, running up a five-figure ...
...that first novel written. As anyone who saw any of his sell-out stage shows knows, Gorman's imagination was sparked by the online diversion of googlewhacking - a usually harmless game in which you try to find combinations of two legitimate words that throw up just one unique webpage from the three billion or so online. And so he is challenged to meet an unbroken chain of ten people responsible such 'whacks. This book chronicles the result. While ... Read review

Classic Clarkson: Hilarious
Review of Born to Be Riled - Jeremy Clarkson by jonwebb5

Advantages: Very funny, huge variety of subject matter, lots of book for your money, informative, passionate
Disadvantages: Doesn't suit being read in one go, topics recycled and stale towards end

Born To Be Riled is good. It's probably not Jeremy Clarkson's best book, but it certainly makes for great reading, either as a bedtime book, where the short columns are ideal for a quick spell, on the commute or on holiday. It will certainly make you laugh, and the variety is great. It's just missing that little something. The best, and in some cases worst, thing about Born To Be Riled is the fantastic scope of subject matter. Clarkson writes about ...
...connects you to the book. Born To Be Riled is humorous and interesting to read, and is very easy to pick up and get into, perhaps making it best read in short spells, allowing more attention to each individual column. Born To Be Riled certainly has the wit and charm of Clarkson's other books, and the only thing that really lets it down is perhaps it is so long, that by the end, you've read about everything two or three times. However, it is definitely ... Read review

Gary Larson - remember his name!
Review of Cows of Our Planet - Gary Larson by mysticninja

Advantages: hilarious
Disadvantages: not enough of it!

...hilarious! He doesn't just do cows though; chickens, bears, ants, ducks, scientists, and many more feature! There are some of his non-cow sketches included, along with sketches that make sense, sketches that don't and sketches that are just plain absurd! If you're new to Larson you have to take a few minutes to appreciate each picture and the message it may (or not) be hinting at. Don't dismiss the caption, it usual helps the understanding, and ...
...then don't worry about it! The best book of Larsons is the 10th Anniversary Edition (not featured on here but should be!) which includes a bit of biography, original sketches, development of some of the more notable cartoons and plenty of his own thoughts about his work. It makes a very interesting read and enhanced by his natural narrative which gives you a sense of his natural wit and humour. Indulge your grown up childish nature, get a cup of ... Read review

A giant list with a few jokes in each bullet point
Review of Is It Just Me or Is Everything Shit?: The Encyclopedia of Modern Life - Alan McArthur by neverfeargrahamishere

Advantages: Funny and witty.
Disadvantages: boring

The Book in itself is quite funny, full of witty jokes and remarks about almost anything. The book lists everything that the authors hate (in alphabetical order) and why they hate them. It is obviously going to get a bit tedious reading paragraph after paragraph on any random thing that the author dislikes, but when is reading an encyclopedia ever fun? This book is definitely not for the light readers, but meant more of a relaxing read for serious ... Read review
