Classic Clarkson: Hilarious
Review of Born to Be Riled - Jeremy Clarkson by jonwebb5

Advantages: Very funny, huge variety of subject matter, lots of book for your money, informative, passionate
Disadvantages: Doesn't suit being read in one go, topics recycled and stale towards end

Born To Be Riled is good. It's probably not Jeremy Clarkson's best book, but it certainly makes for great reading, either as a bedtime book, where the short columns are ideal for a quick spell, on the commute or on holiday. It will certainly make you laugh, and the variety is great. It's just missing that little something. The best, and in some cases worst, thing about Born To Be Riled is the fantastic scope of subject matter. Clarkson writes about ...
...connects you to the book. Born To Be Riled is humorous and interesting to read, and is very easy to pick up and get into, perhaps making it best read in short spells, allowing more attention to each individual column. Born To Be Riled certainly has the wit and charm of Clarkson's other books, and the only thing that really lets it down is perhaps it is so long, that by the end, you've read about everything two or three times. However, it is definitely ... Read review

Not your usual travel tale
Review of Cooking with Fernet Branca - James Hamilton-Paterson by Raye0274

Advantages: Comical, unusual
Disadvantages: None

I first came across this book during book club. It was in the first round of the Man Booker Prize a few years ago and our reading group had decided to read all the books nominated. I didn't pick this book - was given something else - but when the book was put back on the table I picked it up and found it highly enjoyable. Some of the recipes in this book that is anything but a cookbook, although it does contain some recipes of the rather unpalatable ...
...(made with cat), but his reasoning behind them and the way that the two main characters, Gerald and Marta, come across is enough to make you root for them both in their own separate yet connected lives. Pick up a copy of this book and sit down and read with a nice glass of wine (or two) and a classy box of chocs, you won't regret it. ... Read review

Hee Haw
Review of Crabbit Old Buggers - John K.V. Eunson by Nar

Advantages: many
Disadvantages: many

Hello and welcome to the review that should have been here. It was here but its not here now as I have taken it and put it into my private stash somewhere else. It may well appear somewhere else online and if it does it will have my name on it. Thank you to everyone, to all the people in my COT over the years who have stuck by me and who have been great influences over the reviews I have written. It is indeed a sad case that reviewers have to come ...
...sense at all when the original content should be listed and frankly because of endless problems with Ciao I no longer have the time and energy to carry on. Each time I tried, it didn't work. Each message I sent to other members, they didn't appear. Each rate I applied, it didn't show. So that's the end of it. Ty for reading. ... Read review

Clrkson does it again
Review of Don't Stop Me Now - Jeremy Clarkson by ravster93

Advantages: good for cars, a general laugh, pictures of the cars( only in the hardback)
Disadvantages: no pictures in the paper back, nextime he can write as a book

A great book again i don't know how he does it but he is amazing. the content of this book is not written specifically for the book but is a compilation of his Sunday times motoring columns. this book is basically a hysterical review of about 60 cars. the review of each car starts off by Jeremy moaning about something or explaining about something which is no concern to us. but somehow he links it all back to the car he is writing about. it is very ...
...to him, and which audience the car is best for. he also compares the car he is reviewing with another similar car and points out the good and bad points. if you wanted to find out about cars then this is a book for you. but even if you do not like cars then this book is also for you . just because this book is so funny. also the hard back contains a picture of each car he reviews to give you an understanding of what he is talking about ... Disadvantages: Womans perspective

Breezy and offbeat, Driving Myself Crazy is Jessica's first-person account of her golfing education--the teachers, the theories, the mistakes and misadventures, and the confidence she feels once her game begins to improve. Celebrating the sport one pro claims is 80 percent physical for beginners and 85 percent mental once you know what you're doing, Driving Myself Crazy, is an engaging and often hilarious account of one woman whose obsession carried ...
