A very funny read
Review of Barry Trotter and the Shameless Parody - Michael Gerber by
sn33zy440
Advantages: Funny, witty
Disadvantages: Need to know the harry potter books to understand it
Having heard about this book i decided to buy it. It definately displays a unique charm. I like the Harry Potter books and this is certainly a darker, funnier, cruder version. The writing isn't as good as JK Rowling's but it's still a very interesting read. The author's use of crude humour, easy jokes, and poking fun at itself makes it hilarious. The plot is fast paced, and can sometimes get confusing and hard to follow. Although sometimes it seems ... ...a good, well-worth read. It is way funnier than Harry Potter and some could argue better. More aimed at older readers though but if you like parodies or Harry Potter, or if you hate Harry Potter from his stupid scar to his pet owl's droppings, you should read this funny book. ...

Bart Simpson's "Guide to Life"
Review of Bart Simpson's Guide to Life (A Wee Handbook for the Perplexed) - Matt Groening by
e_coleuk
Advantages: Brightens up your reading slot!
Disadvantages: A bit immature... it IS Bart afterall.
...her 10 year old brother Bart who may often be seen pulling a prank on someone. Then there's Maggie the baby, who never speaks, but inseparable from her pacifier is remarkably nifty with a shot gun.
About this extremely funny book: If you are a Simpson's fan you will get this book straight away. I know a few people who never touch the Simpsons, and I don't know how they would take to it. It's very visual, packed with Simpsons characters and catch-phrases, ... ...little descretely naked pictures of Bart Simpson, the 10 year old son of the Simpson family who you love to hate. He is that cheeky little child inside all of us (I would imagine) who would just love to yell out to their School Principal to "Eat my shorts". For example the front cover has Bart holding a flower... I swear there could be a catapult in his other hand!
This book is made out like a kid's school book. The inside cover has an endearing ...

A fictional cartoon?
Review of Love Is Hell - Matt Groening by
C_W_Monkey
Advantages: Very very funny
Disadvantages: It's actually very factual! (lol)
...but I'm sure she'll agree, love is hell. That's what this book goes into describing in a comical way. Furthermore, it's both funny and factual!! I can actually relate to the "9 types of boyfriend"
It goes through different areas of relationships. Each page is one in a series, presumibly printed on a newspaper weekly or something when drawn. But it's all collected together in this book.
It then moves into some sections of "Life in hell" which are ... ...I'm a complete geek, I love finding things I didn't know were there. There's so much packed into these comics that there's always something to look at, or notice or whatever. So I love it! Despite being written in 1985, all the jokes are relevant now! I find this quite amazing that everything in it I can relate to.
Matt Groening is a fantastic artist. He's used bunny rabbits (which are already starting to resemble the simpsons characters) to convey ...

"...and all I got was this lousy T-Shirt"
Review of The Book, the Film, the T-shirt - Matt Beaumont by
Soho_Black
Advantages: Very funny in places
Disadvantages: The title takes ages to say
Having thoroughly enjoyed “E”, the debut novel from Matt Beaumont and been quite amused by the horribly obvious cash-in follow-up that was “The E Before Christmas”, I was delighted to see a new novel from the author.
As much as anything, I’d been impressed by the way “E” and its companion were completely written in E-Mails, with date headers and everything. That originality, combined with the fact that it was also a pretty funny book, made Matt ... ...with his debut novel “e”, the story is set around life at an advertising agency. This time, though, rather than the setting being in the office, they’re at a film studio in Hounslow, in the middle of shooting an advertisement. In an effort to make it as good as they can and increase the agency’s profile, they’ve hired two of the biggest stars of American TV to play a couple. Unfortunately, in between signing to film the advert and coming to film ...
