all steamed up
Review of Morphy Richards 40730 by ali831

Advantages: glides
Disadvantages: its for the ironing !!!

I have owned the morphy richards precision steam (40730) for about two months now and must say it was a worthwhile purchase. First the technical details- 2200w, 40g of stream,80g steam shot, 320ml water tank, antiscale and antidrip, 3m cord length weight 1.3kg. price £44.99 from argos. I was looking for an iron that was smooth and had powerful steam. This gets a rating of 5/5 for both of these. The soleplate is ceramic and glides over the ironing ...
...steam or no steam at all. The iron self regulates so the higher the temperature the more steam it gives you. So for delicate fabrics on a low temperature setting there is hardly any steam at all so reduces the risk of scorching. I find i have to refill the water tank on a regular basis and when the tank is full the iron is quite heavy to hold. Unfortunately, although the iron has an attractive purple colour the frosty water tank means it is pratically ... Read review

Philips steam iron
Review of Philips GC4444 by bocelliforever

Advantages: Ionic steam
Disadvantages: Storage of flex

This is the best iron I have ever used. With Ionic Deepsteam, spray function and vertical steam boost it really does remove all the creases. Its design is very "funky" and I particularly like the sharp point which makes it very easy to to get into the corners. Runs very smoothly and not too heavy. Another extremely useful feature is the separate storage plate so that it can be put away while still hot - no waiting for it to cool first. My only criticism ... Read review

RUSSEL HOBBS
Review of Russell Hobbs 12978 by KPN7

Advantages: light, stylish
Disadvantages: more or less everything else

Russel Hobbs are often extremely well made and durable appliances however this is not the case with this product. I'll admit that this iron looks extremely stylish and well made, however it isnt. I personally dont own this product but I bought one for a Christmas present for my friend as a joke and she has being ranting on about it ever since. It has a dial which adjusts the heat for a variety of different textures of clothes such as silk, cotton ...
...heat setting it is on it still seems far too hot for the material. My friend has said that she has burnt more clothes that not with this iron. However the cord is extremely long which I suppose is an advantage (4metres) It doesnt though have a steam shoot which I thought was standard for any iron nowadays. Oh how I was wrong. It is though extremely light which handy I suppose. (I dont do the ironing...if you havent noticed) . I can say however that ... Read review

Carried away with the steaming iron
Review of Breville IR73 by aspebbles

Advantages: Light and easily maneouverable
Disadvantages: Some small niggles

Its the old story. When my trusty iron of five years faithful service finally packed in, it was time to buy a new one. Loathe to spend to much of my precious weekend and hard earned dosh trawling through the shops, I headed straight to my local Co-op supermarket as they usually stock a bit of kitchenware. ~~ THE BASICS Price: around £13.99 . Appearance: mine is mid blue and white, quite large in size and nice and shiny and new! Comes well packaged ...
...instruction booklet in a variety of languages. ~~ CAN IT DO THE JOB? My previous iron finally pakced in when little pieces of plastic holding the water tank became wedged in the side of the tank. This caused the tank to expand slightly, and as aresult, it leaked. This shorted the fuse (13 amp), and as aresult, my fridge, kettle and radio also went off. When I removed the stray pieces of plastic, the problem seemed solved, but I increasingly found ... Read review

Pink Power!
Review of Breville IR29 by charlotte_thomas

Advantages: powerful crease removal, good value
Disadvantages: none

Breville IR29 Steam Iron The Breville IR29 Steam Iron is a basic but good quality iron, it is the only Breville product I own and I must say I am impressed! It cost £14.99 from JTF Warehouse about fourteen months ago and so far I've had no problems with it. The main reason that I bought this iron was that it is pink, sad I know but I love all things pink! Coinsidentally one of my friends bought the exact same iron for the exact same reason so I'm ...
...out and buy the same or the nearest model Breville iron again. For £14.99 it can't be faulted as this is a good performing reliable iron with enough features to cater for the needs of most households, and if you like pink then the colour is an added bonus!! ... Read review
