Perfect for a quick, no fuss, no spills cup of tea
Review of Russell Hobbs 10178 by
fussymum
Advantages: fast, easy on/off lid, looks good, well designed
Disadvantages: loud
I love this kettle. After years of different cheap plastic kettles I thought I would treat myself to a more expensive model. I've had it for a couple of years and I think it cost about £30 which was more than I had ever spent on a kettle before. I was sick of kettles that were difficult to fill with lids that never quite went on properly first time - especially with your one free hand! The lid on this kettle is perfect, it has a plastic easy grip ... ...refill seconds after it has boiled without burning your fingers -how many times does that happen with some kettles? I think the shape also helps here as the kettle is at its narrowest at the lid (so you can get your hand out the way before the steam comes out). The opening is wide enough to easily get the tap in and narrow enough so you can turn the tap on full without getting splashed while watching the fill line which is underneath the kettle handle ...

supersonic - can't wait for a cup of tea
Review of Russell Hobbs 10242 KUDO by
asilandrabid
Advantages: Supersonic - heating
Disadvantages: stains easily
...stylish device. The Russell Hobbs 10242 kudo boils the water so quickly that you have little time to prepare the beverages. This is due to the flat plate heater that gives a larger surface area to convect the heat into the water. A lot of vogue kettles are either cone-shaped or metallic, which, by its nature of shape or substance generates enormous noise. The oval cylindrical shape of the kudo along with its high temperature plastic reservoir reduces ... ...would look pretty poor, so Russell Hobbs cladded the kettle with a brushed stainless steel skin. Giving excellent aesthetics along with the benefits of the plastic inner reservoir. However keeping the stainless steel mark-free is tough, the price we pay for vogue.
A good buy but not the cheapest kettle on the market, you have to pay for a good name.

My kettle has put me in a mood
Review of Breville JK144 S/S Spectra by
Suzela
Advantages: Funky and quiet
Disadvantages: Pours badly
...noticed that our faithful old breville kettle was starting to die in as much as it wasn't cutting out - great for steam cleaning the tiles but not so good on the kettle or our electric bill! And finally today it gave up the ghost and I had to hold a little ceremony for it as I put it on the ever growing pile of items to be taken to the local tip.
It was sad as it had lived with us for 4 years and expired just as I was gagging for a brew which compounded ... ...And that kettle was a Breville Spectra everchanging illuminated kettle. So in my desparation for a cup of tea I walked over to Argos and purchased this kettle for £44.99.
This kettle has everything our old kettle had but is new and improved by the looks of things. It is still a 1.7 litre capacity and it still has a fast boil 3000w element and it is a very similar shape. It sits on base with an enclosed element and it can be moved around 360 degrees. ...

Great Kettle Reasonably Priced
Review of Dualit 72300/72400 S/S Black JUG by
missc83
Advantages: Stylish easy to use
Disadvantages: Limited capacity
This kettle looks great- really stylish and is a proud edition to my kitchen. It boils quickly and the swivel base makes it easy to handle which is great in our house as we have a right and left hander. Generally the ergonomics are great- the handle is comfortable and easy to use. The spout is well controlled and the maximum water linr is set low enough for the water to not boil out like my previous kettle did. However I find the volume of the kettle ...

breville lightning kettle
Review of Breville JK136 Lightning S/S by
iany
Advantages: no spillages
Disadvantages: has it boiled yet ?
well i think to myself thats a lovely looking kettle, much better than that white lump of plastic i have in the kitchen at the moment, and such a good deal at only £22.00 nearly half price!. well i have never paid more than £10.00 for a kettle before and now i know how foolish i was. firstly i am no longer waiting all day for it to boil and then drip half of it over the top as i pour, secondly it is quiet, even sounds good ,then the illumination, ...
