...lights up when it detects a Wifi signal, although you should be able to turn it off. Acer are one of the biggest makers of laptops and not a lesser brand. They do cut corners but overall value for money for a general use laptop. We have bought two ... Read review

Decent Laptop
Review of Acer Extensa 5620-1A1G12Mi - Core 2 Duo T5250 1.5 GHz - 15.4" TFT by wardy-91

Advantages: Decent spec
Disadvantages: Has a few downsides, battery etc.

This is the laptop that i currently own and am on right as we speak. i've had it since christmas time which is when i got it in the sale for around 400 pounds. In my opinion it is a good laptop but it has a few downsides. Firstly, the screen is a very glossy one whch means that yes, it does keep the sun off of it, but it also means that it gets scratched very easily.. ANother problem is the battery, it will last for only around 2 hours when it should ... Read review

Acer travelmate review
Review of Acer TravelMate 5520G-5A1G12 - Athlon 64 X2 TK-53 - 15.4" TFT by tobykelly11

Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: incredibly slow!

I have had this laptop for just about a year now and am already considering changing. I find it is incredibly slow and it constantly acts as if it has a virus although i have checked and it says it hasnt! programs only work when they want to work. The main issue here is it is constantly trying to update itself which is always slowing it down although there is 1gb of ram I am often warned there is not enough memory to perfrom certain tasks or open ... Not a great traveller, but a good mate...
Review of Acer TravelMate 7520-402G16Mi - Turion 64 X2 TL-58 1.9 GHz - 17" TFT by readie25

Advantages: Well-presented, feature-packed laptop
Disadvantages: A touch slow for modern gaming

The Acer Travelmate series come generally very well-equipped to be competent laptop computers for the modern age, and the 7520 is no exception. Using the same Turion 64x2 that is quite standard in its Travelmate range, the 7520 is quick to boot; the 2GB of RAM is quite sufficient for multimedia applications such as watching DVDs - well provided for by a very able DVD drive and a very nicely presented, clear screen. As well as this, the product is ...
...for long periods, with a great touchpad. However, the screen is quite easily scratched and the battery life is really rather poor - typically you can expect approximately 80 mins on 'high performance', or longer on the more frugal but less useful 'balanced' and 'power saver' options. A great value laptop, and a very good buy ... Read review

Fujitsu Siemens ESPRIMO Mobile V5505
Review of Fujitsu Siemens ESPRIMO Mobile V5505 by m1keyb

Advantages: Quick laptop and not bulky for a 15.4" laptop 2Ghz
Disadvantages: battery life rated at 3 hours. Graphics not for high end use

An excellent laptop, a good balance between memory and CPU speed for most users. Graphics adequate for most things, though not for high end games. 3.4 Vista Index due to graphics, however, all over ratings are around 4.5 -5.5. Highly recommended for general and business use. I use mine for web development and have had no problems at all. I often have many CPU intensive applications open at once and the performance has never waivered. I've just switched ...
...the keyboard, however, its a standard laptop one so no problems there. The USB ports are on the side which I find useful. Display screen is excellent and doesn't suffer from glare. At the time of writing this was the best laptop for the money for general use on the market. ... Read review
