why acer are outselling dell
Review of Acer Aspire 4920-1A2G12Mi - Core 2 Duo T5250 1.5 GHz - 14.1" TFT by techno_man_37

Advantages: cheap, great spec
Disadvantages: could have better processor

Acer is a company that’s growing stronger and stronger by the day, a few years ago I wouldn’t have even considered buying an acer, but now acer are starting to over take dell in laptop sales and its mostly down to their fair prices, as well as their great build quality. Sure dell might still make better laptops, but acer are more the peoples laptop brand offering lots of variety at affordable prices. This so called gemstone design is ...
...its clearly a design that acer has come up with and kept, and it clearly represents their company. a lot of laptops from other manufacturers just look the same as others and you cant tell what brand they are, this however, much like the look of apples imacs you can tell they belong to which company. Only weighing 2.7 kg this is quite good for taking on the move as well. It also has a 2.5 hour battery life, which is pretty good but if you do want ... Read review

...After I had used the HP Tablet TC4400 model at work I knew it had to be a tablet PC. For those of you that are not aware of the term 'tablet PC'. It refers to a laptop where you can turn the screen and place it flat on the keyboard with the screen face-up. This turns it into a type of notebook that you can use to write on by using the specially supplied stylus pen. Users of a PDA will be familiar with a stylus. You can use it in this mode to surf ... Lenova ThinkPad R61i 7650 Review
Review of Lenovo ThinkPad R61i 7650 - Pentium Dual Core T2310 1.46 GHz - 15.4" TFT by MaximumFear

Advantages: Easy to use, runs smoothly, good battery life and high quality.
Disadvantages: Some probelms with the wireless adapter.

I have owned several different ThinkPad's over the years. I have enjoyed them all and found them to be extremely useful and reliable. I knew that I wanted a decent quality portable laptop that would be suitable for all the basics. I have been using the laptop mainly for office related items such as documents and spreadsheets but have also been using it to store and edit photographs and videos. So far I have had no problems and that fact that it ...
...This version of the ThinkPad is pretty similar to the rest of the laptops in the series. There is little to no distortion with the screen and it is fairly bright and gives a high quality picture. I couldn't find any problems with the laptop as a whole, nothing is loose or flex's for the most part. The R61 has pretty much all the ports you would expect a laptop to have. There are three USB ports on the notebook, audio ports, a wireless switch, a ... Read review

Excellent compromise between portability and size
Review of Sony VAIO C2Z/B - Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66 GHz - 13.3" TFT by porsche917

Advantages: Strong frame, full size keyboard, excellent screen, not too heavy.
Disadvantages: Windows Vista, runs hot.

I spent a long time looking for a truly portable laptop that would still have a large enough keyboard for heavy duty use, and a large enough screen for watching DVDs, which none of the ultra-portables seemed to offer. Final shortlist was this Vaio and the Apple MacBook. Very pleased I chose the Vaio. Extremely good looking, light enough, full size keyboard, and a great screen. Real upside is a very strong case. Mine was squashed in a bag, and ...
...bent it back and it functions perfectly. Downsides are really to do with Vista, you need to download a patch to ensure the computer will come out of hibernation when you open the screen, and when coming out of hibernation it seems to lose the sound drivers. Also, if you are using it in bed then you need to rest it on something, it gets very hot otherwise! ... Read review

Value for Money Toshiba
Review of Toshiba Satellite A200 by sunweohn

Advantages: durability, reasonable price
Disadvantages: heat if used long hours and noisy fun inside

This notebook is my first notebook I bought it a year ago soon after it was launched in UK. I paid £499 for it. I don't think I should describe the product description in the review so I will only mention my experiences and opinions. In my opnion, the Satellite series is the reasonable priced notebook introduced by Toshiba. I use it daily and its durability is quite good. The keyboard keys are easy to handle and use. The notebooks come together with ...
...classic looks. When it is used for long hours (like 5 hours or more), it becomes hotter especially near the mouse pad area and the noise of the fun gets louder to reduce the heat inside. To summarise the pros and cons, it is value for money. Good Luck in your research of notebooks info. ... Read review
