Acer Aspire
Review of Acer Aspire 5050 by
lazyshadow2004
Advantages: Lightweight and compact
Disadvantages: Speaker volume
I bought this Acer to complete work for university and it is very reliable. It is small and light which is great if you have to carry it around a lot. It is also really sturdy - mine has been bashed about as I carry it constantly to and from university and I have never had a problem with it. The battery lasts for ages - nearly 2 hours and charges really quickly - just over an hour. The screen is bright and very clear. The hard drive is 2 hard drives ...

It's become a DTR
Review of Acer Aspire 5002LM - Turion 64 mobile technology ML-30 1.6 GHz - 15" TFT by
Matt1eD
Advantages: Cheap, dual layer DVD+/-RW, 60 gig HDD, 3 hour battery, great keyboard
Disadvantages: Integrated graphics, lack of ports, single PCMCIA slot, noise
The Acer Aspire 5000 series is the first to see the AMD Turion 64-bit. It was designed to be low cost, low heat, low power consumption yet powerful. This has enabled it to act as a desktop replacement for me.
It was time I got a notebook computer so I could take it into school, and my main PC was on its last legs. Therefore I looked around for some computers. I needed a notebook to develop my software, edit my photos, compose music and other medium ... ...low cost online retailer of Acer products and purchased it excluding case for £550.
What did I need specification wise. Well a computer that would last me well specification wise for the next few years - not going down the Windows Vista path and with a minumum spec. as below:
1.4GHz Pentium M, Sempron or Turion CPU
512 MB RAM
60 Gig HDD
DVD Burner
Battery life ≥ 2 and a half hours
The specification ...

Acer 5003WMLI Laptop Review
Review of Acer Aspire 5003WLMi - Turion 64 mobile technology ML-32 1.8 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
kjcsupplies
Advantages: GREAT BUILT IN INTERNET CAPABILITY
Disadvantages: No bluetooth, mine broke due to some kind of fault
I purchased my Acer 5003wmli Laptop from a seller on ebay, i paid around £360 including postage. After some great use of the laptop over a period of around 8 months i had a major problem, a resistor blew on the motherboard. The blown resistor caused perment damage to my board and other devices but thankfully some where not damaged. As repairing the laptop was practically impossible due to the damge caused i decided to sell all the parts on ebay and ... ...speed. I hapily used my Acer 5003WMLI for the 8 months i had it.
Design and comfort
----------------------------
The sleek beatiful design is very proffessional although the lid of the laptop is a bity plain and boring but i guess your the judge of this, simply go to google and do an image search for acer 5003wmli and check it out for yourself. My laptop used to get REALLY HOT where the processor is placed after around an hour an a halfs use and ...

HP DV6599 Special Edition - Good All Rounder
Review of HP Pavilion Media Center dv6599ea Special Edition Entertainment - Core 2 Duo T7300 2 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
marcus997
Advantages: Features, size and design
Disadvantages: Not good enough for gaming
...me. As a fan of HP products, I chose from the DV6500 range available at the time. This laptop had every spec I required for both using as a station for university assignments, as well as home use for music, film and gaming.
Firstly, the design is eye-catching. I was bored of looking at the generic black or grey and thought the white anti-scratch surface was ideal. The laptop is also quite light and the absense of a locking clip meant there was less ... ...more than my money's worth! HP also frequently offer discounts so it's always worth checking to see what deals are to be had.
As well as the remote control that is stored away when not in use, another of my favourite features is the fingerprint reader. When you use the internet on a frequent basis, remembering usernames and passwords can be frustrating. For anyone who hops from website to website, I'd highly recommend this feature.
Thankfully I ...

Does an excellent job for most day to day tasks
Review of Toshiba Equium A200-26D - Core 2 Duo T5450 1.66 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
s32bauer
Advantages: Good looks, most basic equipment you would need, able to handle most programs
Disadvantages: Not suitable for games, some aspects feel cheap
...However, I will warn that Toshiba have placed quite a lot of branding on the software. The Toshiba wallpaper is easy to get rid of, but there are numerous 'memory eating' programs that Toshiba claim to help your laptop - they do nothing worthwhile. Certainly nothing that Windows can't do better. Separate programs for controlling the touch pad aren't required, and uninstalling all of this non-essential software frees up storage space and memory.
... ...ethernet port for my internet, and have had no issues with either. The ethernet is very straight forward plug and play, and connects to your ISP in seconds.
The display is extremely crisp and sharp, and the brightness can be changed to suite your needs (and energy consumption). On the subject of energy consumption, this laptop isn't too bad compared to some I have used. I can run my laptop in high performance mode using wireless LAN for internet, ...
