BenQ - The new Sony
Review of BenQ Joybook 5000 - Pentium M 1.4 GHz - 14.1" TFT by nanoblade

Advantages: Looks good, Fast, Cheap, Great graphics
Disadvantages: Flimsy feel, not enough RAM

...months ago? Well I hadn’t. BenQ are new to Europe although they are well established in the Middle East. If you hadn’t heard of them before Euro 2004 you must do now! When I saw this laptop for an insanely low price a few months ago I was a little skeptical, but after days of research I couldn’t find anything to compete with it, and became more confident about BenQs reputation. So I went ahead and bought it, and I can honestly say ...
...at, most people say it looks more like a mac than a PC which is a good thing! Since using Centrino I will never ever again buy a P4 laptop, and since using BenQ laptops I will never switch to another manufacturer except for Sony and Apple of course :-) ... Read review

Benq Joybook Review
Review of BenQ Joybook 5000U - Pentium M 1.4 GHz - 14.1" TFT by chappy81

Advantages: Battery Life, Portability, Performance
Disadvantages: Could be zippier

...light PC to carry around. Benq is even kind enough to include a simple Polypropene (Think Wetsuit material) Slim Case for a little extra protection on the road. The included software is excellent, Windows XP Professional, NTI-CD Maker, Cyberlink DVD Viewer and maker, and Ulead Photo software. There is also some proprietary Q-music, and Q-Media software which help utilise hot keys and provide a worthy alternative to the windows media suite. A truly ... Read review

HP DV6599 Special Edition - Good All Rounder
Review of HP Pavilion Media Center dv6599ea Special Edition Entertainment - Core 2 Duo T7300 2 GHz - 15.4" TFT by marcus997

Advantages: Features, size and design
Disadvantages: Not good enough for gaming

...me. As a fan of HP products, I chose from the DV6500 range available at the time. This laptop had every spec I required for both using as a station for university assignments, as well as home use for music, film and gaming. Firstly, the design is eye-catching. I was bored of looking at the generic black or grey and thought the white anti-scratch surface was ideal. The laptop is also quite light and the absense of a locking clip meant there was less ...
...more than my money's worth! HP also frequently offer discounts so it's always worth checking to see what deals are to be had. As well as the remote control that is stored away when not in use, another of my favourite features is the fingerprint reader. When you use the internet on a frequent basis, remembering usernames and passwords can be frustrating. For anyone who hops from website to website, I'd highly recommend this feature. Thankfully I ... Does an excellent job for most day to day tasks
Review of Toshiba Equium A200-26D - Core 2 Duo T5450 1.66 GHz - 15.4" TFT by s32bauer

Advantages: Good looks, most basic equipment you would need, able to handle most programs
Disadvantages: Not suitable for games, some aspects feel cheap

...However, I will warn that Toshiba have placed quite a lot of branding on the software. The Toshiba wallpaper is easy to get rid of, but there are numerous 'memory eating' programs that Toshiba claim to help your laptop - they do nothing worthwhile. Certainly nothing that Windows can't do better. Separate programs for controlling the touch pad aren't required, and uninstalling all of this non-essential software frees up storage space and memory. ...
...ethernet port for my internet, and have had no issues with either. The ethernet is very straight forward plug and play, and connects to your ISP in seconds. The display is extremely crisp and sharp, and the brightness can be changed to suite your needs (and energy consumption). On the subject of energy consumption, this laptop isn't too bad compared to some I have used. I can run my laptop in high performance mode using wireless LAN for internet, ... Read review

Acceptable Toshiba.
Review of Toshiba Satellite Pro A200 by AmenTeen

Advantages: Speed, comfortabe, cheap.
Disadvantages: No webcam built-in.

The Toshiba brand has always been noted with mass gratitude for solid and robust piece-of-art laptops and particularity, the Satellite Pro A200 is not an odd exception, not a disappointment. The Satellite Pro offers Intel new processor technology as far as concerned. This advantage gives the user open options for use of softwares and applications compatible with the new technology of duo-core. Still the duo-core processors are robust, at least 1.5GHZ ...
...users. This notebook has its Toshiba manufactured hard disk, well known for being solid and long life. The design of coated screen is classic and gives a great look with the new windows vista interface. The touchpad is just a tad too small given all the unutilised space above the keyboard where the speakers and quick launch buttons live. The left hand side of the chassis houses your video options with VGA and S-Video out, Ethernet port, two USB ... Read review
