Dell Inspiron 8600c - A truly perfect laptop
Review of Dell Inspiron 8600c - Pentium M 725 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
zoe_holl
Advantages: Good Value for money
Disadvantages: Perhaps not advanced enough for PC enthusiasts
...but one look at the dell website and i couldnt wait to take this laptop home!
It set me back around £800 - but for this i got the free delivery, carry case and a printer (the printer was part of a promotion at the time).
The computer was delivered just two days after ordering - seven days earlier than quoted. The delivery men were very polte and helpful.
The inspiron 8600c is a mid range dell laptop and i would recommend it to most computer users. ... ...quickly. This laptop is perfect for people like me - who like to use the computer regularly for schoolwork and also for leisure purposes eg. the internet, games. It literally has everything you need, But for those of you who are looking for a superquick laptop with auper amazing graphics, i would recommend the top of the range inspiron model, which one of my uncles owns.
All in all, an amazing buy. I use this laptop every day and have had no problems ...

Brilliant speedy laptop!
Review of Dell Inspiron 9100 - P4 3 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
Hazmatazz
Advantages: In text
Disadvantages: In text
A Brilliant laptop, very fast and well built just it has quite low battery life due to the Petium 4 3.0GHZ HT Processor, my laptop had the ATI Radeon 9800 AGP8x. 12 Cell battery but 16 cell versions are availible (without the Sub-woofer) The sub is inbuilt into the laptop. Good size screen (Widescreen)
+ Powered USB port
+DVI port asswell as VGA port (Digital Analogue)
+Powerful desktop replacement
+Amazing graphics
+Dedicated graphics memory
... ...slower
-Pentium 4 so still has Netburst architecture, not dual core
-Low battery life due to desktop parts
-Weight! 4.1KG!!!!!
-Not very good to use off a solid surface e.g Legs
I used a program called i8kfangui to control the fans for the processor, this allows me to force the fans to high speed and thigs like that. I find that the WiFi is very good.
Got mine off ebay for £230 ...

Macbook: The Only Choice
Review of Apple MacBook Core 2 Duo 2.1 GHz - 13.3" TFT by
chids
Advantages: Looks, Simplicity, Works out-of-the-box, battery life, power
Disadvantages: Case feels a little cheap, Screen attracts fingerprints
...Macbook was purchased direct from Apple and took just two days to arrive. And, as promised, it worked straight out of the box. I just pressed power filled out my user details and i was going. The setup hooked me onto my wireless internet and i was away.
The first thing that struck me was the size of the thing, it's only slightly thicker than an average sized hardback notepad and weighs just over 2 kg, in other words it's a perfect size. Before the ... ...is very clean and crisp. Apple really has gone above and beyond with this one, it's perfect. The 13,3 inch glossy screen is great for watching movies. Just a note for skeptical readers: the glossy screen rarely (if ever) reflects anything in the background. When it comes to using the Macbook in a brightly lit area or outside there is less reflection than there would be on a Matte display.
Battery life on the Macbook. Is better than almost all other ...

The Good and the Bads of the Toshiba Equium A60
Review of Toshiba Equium A60-155 - Celeron D 335 2.8 GHz - 15" TFT by
chrisattrill
Advantages: Cheap, Reliable, Run up to date games.
Disadvantages: Heavy, Slow, Battery
The Toshiba Equium A60, is a cheap, and reliable laptop. It can do the basic commands of oppening Microsoft Office to a harder command of running the most up to date games. The A60 is quite old now, and I was worried at first that it may not be able to run Flight Simulator X. In the end the game works fine. The spec is good aswell, if you have got alot of files then you may need to buy and external hard drvie for extra storage. Then there is the ... ...portable. Also if you have got lots of programs then the laptop may be slow and most of the time the laptop will not be able to run more then three or four major programs. Also the battery is not very good; infact it is rubbish. But as long you have got the charger in the laptop you should be ok and it should not be a problem. Over all its a good "student" laptop, and the price you pay is the price you get!
I paid £230 for this laptop, but i'm sure ...

A good budget laptop
Review of Dell Inspiron 1525 by
Rich444
Advantages: Looks nice, works well, some nice added touches
Disadvantages: A few build and technical issues
...know, an unusual thing with Dell is that they only sell laptops online, and all products can be fully customised to meet your specifications. For around £329 you can buy the base level specifications of an Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor T1400(1.73Ghz), 2Gb RAM and a 120Gb hardrive. More than sufficient for an entry level laptop. However these specifications can be customised up to a 2Ghz processor, 4GB RAM and a massive 250Gb hardrive. This would ... ...add-ons include a built in 2MP webcam (£20 extra), a larger capacity battery and a Truelife (glossy finished) screen.
For the purpose of the review, my laptops specs are: 2.00Ghz Processor, 3Gb RAM and 120Gb Hardrive. I have the built in webcam, and the plain matte screen.
Physical Features
The Inspiron is a sophisticated looking laptop, despite being a little bit on the bulky side. Its dimensions are 14.05"x10.08"x1.0-1.48" (its wedged shaped) ...
