When looking for my first laptop I was searching for an efficient and powerful computer. I believe the Inspiron 1520 fits that mould. Advantages: Looks good. Battery life around 4 hours. Keeps your legs warm on cold days!
Disadvantages: Audio crackle. Gets too hot. Screen viewing angle restrictive. Slow to start.

...appears to be a common Dell laptop problem. I eventually found advice in a forum to disable band A on the wi-fi. This worked but it is a bodge. The audio isn't good even without the crackle but I was intending to return it before I found the work-around.
