VAIO WOW
Review of Sony VAIO N38Z/W - Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66 GHz - 15.4" TFT by im_not_batman

Advantages: Performance, Style
Disadvantages: Price

I bought this lap top for use in conjuction with my webiste which I have been running for several years now and find it extremely good at the tasks I perform on it. This laptop is stylish, modern and lightweight compared to my apple which sadly broke down. The battery life, which I was advised was excellent for a machine of this stature, is really good which is important for me to keep track of orders and finance when away from my main PC. I had ...
...the responsiveness of the mouse which, when it was new, was amazingly good. It came pre-installed with Microsoft Word and all the other software you'd expect. As I use specialist software for my work, this was installed with great ease and works a treat everytime. I find it easy to attach peripherals and other such items when I need to and these too are really easy to install etc as per manufactuer's guidelines. I have absolutely no regrets buying ... Something You Won't Mind Sitting In Your Lap
Review of Sony VAIO FZ18L - Core 2 Duo T7100 1.8 GHz - 15.4" TFT by ayanayuk

Advantages: Loads really
Disadvantages: Too much bundled software and DIY support disks

...Sony. I've got a Sony phone, Sony TVs, Sony games consoles (I own the PS 1, 2 and 3 as well as the PSP) and now the Sony Vaio. I've had a bit of a love affair with the Vaio since I went to Amsterdam in 2000 for a conference/expo and our main server that our demonstration was controlled by went west. We had to use a Vaio as the backup server and it actually did better than the dedicated server. At the time I was using a friends, but last year I got ...
...that the weight increases, but Sony have really done a good job in pulling this one off. Now looking cool, being light and having a decent spec is useless if the usability of the machine is totally pants. I'm very pleased to say that it isn't. One of my pet hates is typing on a laptop keyboard and I generally tend to cart around an external keyboard with me. The keyboard on the Vaio is well constructed and has a short travel distance (how far in ... Read review

The Happy Maccy Chappy
Review of Apple MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz - 15.4" TFT by HungryHungarian

Advantages: High speed, gorgeous, and easy to use
Disadvantages: Price, operating temperature

...I tell you this because Apple try to "screw you over" somewhat, as they offer three different models of the MBP. Let me explain. There are two versions of the 15.4" model, the second one having a 2.5GHz processor and a 250GB hard drive. The other difference you might notice if you look closely is that the processor cache size is 6MB not 3MB. Six is a bigger number than three, so the smaller one must be rubbish! This difference had me confused for ...
...anyway. That's enough gratuitous Apple bashing for now, I think. Most Apple products are expensive, but in this case I believe it really is worth it. All the applications are fast to run. It boots up quickly, shuts down quicker, and goes to sleep (and wakes up again!) in a well behaved manner. I've never had any problems with it running slowly, or even crashing for that matter. It comes with 2GB of RAM, which is plenty. If, like me, you can't bear ... Read review

...As well as built-in wireless and all the usual connectors, including an HDMI port for outputting 1080i to an HD TV. I love this feature I can connect it to my HD TV and watch movies it looks great. The RAM is a bit low according to Crucial but I'm getting an 'upgrade kit' "i.e. 2x1GB sticks" I must find out how to install that before it comes This laptop certainly get points for its styles.
