A Workhorse of Laptops
Review of HP Compaq Business Notebook nc6120 - Pentium M 750 1.86 GHz - 15" TFT by darziw

Advantages: Fantastic Battery life and lots of features
Disadvantages: No Floppy Drive or PS/2 slot

...of a laptop. The HP Compaq nc6120 is a business laptop with a no frills design but all the features you would come to expect for business use. The main areas I consider when purchasing a laptop are, • Features • Battery Life • Cost!! The nc6120 comes in a number of derivatives and prices vary from around £700 to £1,100 depending on what you go for. It is a sensible no frills laptop that is dark grey in colour with no garish add-ons ...
...been very impressed with the HP Compaq nc6120 so much so that I have actually replaced all my business laptops with the HP Compaq nc6120's. The laptop isn't going to look the best or be the smallest and lightest out there but the features and durability and no nonsense design make it a very effective tool and good replacement for a desktop computer for those of you who are mobile users. ... My New Best Friend
Review of Apple MacBook Core 2 Duo 2.16 GHz - 13.3" TFT by CptSergeRidic

Advantages: Easy to use, lightweight and let's face it - darn cool
Disadvantages: No click pad, have to use button

Well, where do i start. I've had a variety of Macs and PCs over the last 10/15 years and i think i have now settled on Macs. There always used to be the problem of compatibility and now that no longer exists, then there was the problem of speed and that no longer exits, then the problem of availability of programs - well as you can guess that no longer exists. I'm writing this review on my mac now and i'm just so happy doing so. The only thing ...
...get over that quickly. Everyday i learn something new about this mac and what i can do with it, it's still amazing 6 months after i bought it. This isn't the computer to buy if you want to do graphic design or play high memory games, you'd need to get the macbook pro for that. If you want to use this as a general home computer for playing games and surfing the internet then, buy this now. Make sure you know what you want to use the computer for ... Read review

VAIO WOW
Review of Sony VAIO N38Z/W - Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66 GHz - 15.4" TFT by im_not_batman

Advantages: Performance, Style
Disadvantages: Price

I bought this lap top for use in conjuction with my webiste which I have been running for several years now and find it extremely good at the tasks I perform on it. This laptop is stylish, modern and lightweight compared to my apple which sadly broke down. The battery life, which I was advised was excellent for a machine of this stature, is really good which is important for me to keep track of orders and finance when away from my main PC. I had ...
...the responsiveness of the mouse which, when it was new, was amazingly good. It came pre-installed with Microsoft Word and all the other software you'd expect. As I use specialist software for my work, this was installed with great ease and works a treat everytime. I find it easy to attach peripherals and other such items when I need to and these too are really easy to install etc as per manufactuer's guidelines. I have absolutely no regrets buying ... Macbook: The Only Choice
Review of Apple MacBook Core 2 Duo 2.1 GHz - 13.3" TFT by chids

Advantages: Looks, Simplicity, Works out-of-the-box, battery life, power
Disadvantages: Case feels a little cheap, Screen attracts fingerprints

...Macbook was purchased direct from Apple and took just two days to arrive. And, as promised, it worked straight out of the box. I just pressed power filled out my user details and i was going. The setup hooked me onto my wireless internet and i was away. The first thing that struck me was the size of the thing, it's only slightly thicker than an average sized hardback notepad and weighs just over 2 kg, in other words it's a perfect size. Before the ...
...is very clean and crisp. Apple really has gone above and beyond with this one, it's perfect. The 13,3 inch glossy screen is great for watching movies. Just a note for skeptical readers: the glossy screen rarely (if ever) reflects anything in the background. When it comes to using the Macbook in a brightly lit area or outside there is less reflection than there would be on a Matte display. Battery life on the Macbook. Is better than almost all other ... The Good and the Bads of the Toshiba Equium A60
Review of Toshiba Equium A60-155 - Celeron D 335 2.8 GHz - 15" TFT by chrisattrill

Advantages: Cheap, Reliable, Run up to date games.
Disadvantages: Heavy, Slow, Battery

The Toshiba Equium A60, is a cheap, and reliable laptop. It can do the basic commands of oppening Microsoft Office to a harder command of running the most up to date games. The A60 is quite old now, and I was worried at first that it may not be able to run Flight Simulator X. In the end the game works fine. The spec is good aswell, if you have got alot of files then you may need to buy and external hard drvie for extra storage. Then there is the ...
...portable. Also if you have got lots of programs then the laptop may be slow and most of the time the laptop will not be able to run more then three or four major programs. Also the battery is not very good; infact it is rubbish. But as long you have got the charger in the laptop you should be ok and it should not be a problem. Over all its a good "student" laptop, and the price you pay is the price you get! I paid £230 for this laptop, but i'm sure ... Read review
