I have been using this laptop for a couple of months and I think, for the money, this is an exceptional piece of equipment. My couple of gripes are long charging time, the right mouse button feels loose, it now takes a very long time to boot up (it was fine new and I have not added much software) and a very limiting hard drive. Also, this unit comes with 512mb ram but can only be upgraded to a max 1gb and uses special ram chips that need to be ordered ... Read review

...experience a couple of glitches. HP kindly provides you with software for creating your recovery disk, (which is basically a copy of Windows XP and the few bits of software the machine comes with). You need either 2 blank DVDs or 11 CDRoms and just have to follow the instructions which pop up on the screen. I opted for the DVDs, but after inserting the 1st DVD and waiting about 40 minutes while some dubious chugging went on, I then got an error message ...
...my fingers, inserted another DVD and tried again, and this time all went smoothly. The whole process took just over an hour, then I was ready to go. By far the best and most fun bit of this laptop is the wireless connectivity. ...The main things th HP have done wrong is they have only put 512 DDR2 in to this laptop and i think that this is not enough for windows vista to run smoothly,would be ok for Windows Xp .After a few days i upgraded the memory of the laptop to 2gb ddr2 this is very easy and was cheap only £30. ...it also failed using the HP Backup Software,Worked perfect when tryiing to copy music disk.The Lid on my laptop has got 2 scratches after only 2 month of using.One more problem i have found with this laptop is that the power cable is in the wrong place always seems to be in the way. i would reccomend getting this laptop if you are on a tight budget and if you are not botherd about the size of the laptop(would reccomend Ram Upgrade). ... ...can handle multiple tasks quicker, ultimately speeding up the processing time of your pc. it has an acceptable 1gb of ram which means multiple programs will run fluently.
