My IPC Life Style
Review of IPC LifeStyle by
JohnJackson
Advantages: Looks Great, Spec is great, Low cost
Disadvantages: Thin Manual
...the first to review the IPC lifestyle …. It’s great ! 10” screen sub-notebook with everything a normal size laptop has running Windows Pro.
I’ve been after a sub-notebook for ages because I’m not really a fully fledged business man and I don’t carry a big flight case around with me… I need a computer I can pop in my back-pack and won’t stop me from making it to work in time… My IPC was under £850 which is loads cheaper than any other sub-notebook ... ...of them but together. It looks a bit like a Sony Viao to the point that if it had a Sony badge on the lid a wouldn’t have been able to buy it so cheap.. I have only needed to contact Teksupportuk.com (their support provider) once and that was on-line. Not a bad experience Basically it’s cool ! ...

magic note
Review of IPC Magic Note by
nsingle111
Advantages: cheap but very high spec
Disadvantages: heavy
Had initial problems with power saving function, but company replaced whole laptop very quickly. Since then I have been very impressed. Battery sometimes discharges quickly when the machine gets cold (left in boot of car overnight). Display is clear, all functions are easy to use. Machine has a very high spec pound for pound compared to similar machines on the market. Software to control mouse pad is a little tempremental, thoigh not sure if this ... ...does not always do what you have set it to. Keys are easy to use, though keyboard feels a little flimsy (no problems yet). Beware this machine does not have a built in floppy disk drive.
Added: Machine is now into its 2nd year, and still going strong. Battery still holds charge well. A good investment. ...

IPC? Never Again
Review of IPC Top Note by
johninfron
Advantages: High powered
Disadvantages: Rubbish
...I bought a shiny new IPC WebNote G. Very nice, blue. It cost £1500, but I paid £1350 as it was on offer. Brilliant deal a 3 GHz P4 with 512MB RAM, a 64MB graphics card and a huge 60 GB hard drive to go with it. All went well for the first month or so but then performance slid; Ok you should expect that, but 10 mins to start up? That is a bit much. This is how it carried on until the following September with the performance slipping and frequent trips ... ...ghost just days before the IPC guarantee ran out. I was told the hard drive was scrap, the processor was gone and the graphics card had gone. But that’s all right it was still in guarantee, not according to IPC whose guarantees are not worth the paper they are written on.
Luckily the shop I bought the laptop off agreed to pay for the repairs that IPC would make. Two and a half months later I got the laptop back. IPC had replaced the hard drive and ...

Macbook: The Only Choice
Review of Apple MacBook Core 2 Duo 2.1 GHz - 13.3" TFT by
chids
Advantages: Looks, Simplicity, Works out-of-the-box, battery life, power
Disadvantages: Case feels a little cheap, Screen attracts fingerprints
...Macbook was purchased direct from Apple and took just two days to arrive. And, as promised, it worked straight out of the box. I just pressed power filled out my user details and i was going. The setup hooked me onto my wireless internet and i was away.
The first thing that struck me was the size of the thing, it's only slightly thicker than an average sized hardback notepad and weighs just over 2 kg, in other words it's a perfect size. Before the ... ...is very clean and crisp. Apple really has gone above and beyond with this one, it's perfect. The 13,3 inch glossy screen is great for watching movies. Just a note for skeptical readers: the glossy screen rarely (if ever) reflects anything in the background. When it comes to using the Macbook in a brightly lit area or outside there is less reflection than there would be on a Matte display.
Battery life on the Macbook. Is better than almost all other ...

The Good and the Bads of the Toshiba Equium A60
Review of Toshiba Equium A60-155 - Celeron D 335 2.8 GHz - 15" TFT by
chrisattrill
Advantages: Cheap, Reliable, Run up to date games.
Disadvantages: Heavy, Slow, Battery
The Toshiba Equium A60, is a cheap, and reliable laptop. It can do the basic commands of oppening Microsoft Office to a harder command of running the most up to date games. The A60 is quite old now, and I was worried at first that it may not be able to run Flight Simulator X. In the end the game works fine. The spec is good aswell, if you have got alot of files then you may need to buy and external hard drvie for extra storage. Then there is the ... ...portable. Also if you have got lots of programs then the laptop may be slow and most of the time the laptop will not be able to run more then three or four major programs. Also the battery is not very good; infact it is rubbish. But as long you have got the charger in the laptop you should be ok and it should not be a problem. Over all its a good "student" laptop, and the price you pay is the price you get!
I paid £230 for this laptop, but i'm sure ...
