Compaq / HP NC4010
Review of HP Compaq Business Notebook nc4010 - Pentium M 745 1.8 GHz - 12.1" TFT by andydunk14

Advantages: Small, Lightweight, Long Battery Life, Durability, Warrenty, Connectivity
Disadvantages: Have to connect a CD-ROM drive when you need it

I've had my fair selection of laptops but none have come close to the performance of this little beast. Size I use my this at college everyday and it is perfect for what I need. The laptop is smaller than most of my textbooks and smaller than a piece of A4 paper so is perfect to fit in your back pack. Weight Not only is the laptop smaller than my textbooks its also a lot lighter! Saves having to carry around a mass of paperwork. Battery I have ...
...it on full brightness, realistic battery life is approx 2 hours under constant word processing. Batteries are easily swappable and easy to get hold off so if you do need longer it is readily availiable. Durability I do have a laptop case but in all honesty have only used it a handful of times, with this laptop being so small it will easily go into your ruck sack and will no doubt take a few knocks. Ive been using the laptop for around 18 months ... Read review

Brilliant in every aspect!
Review of ThinkPad 570 PII 333 MHz - 13.3" TFT by djivesp

Advantages: Size, weight, looks, build quality, keyboard
Disadvantages: Built-in speaker

I got this laptop as second hand, with upgraded ram and hard drive (128M, 10Gb), after researching into the laptop market, i was after an ultra-portable laptop that would not break the bank, and this, for 130 off ebay was the best thing i could ever have gotten. To start off with my expectations, i expected to be able to get something really bulky and heavy, which would probably run windows 98 and i might have been tempted to make use of ...
...exceeded all my expectations and left me with a happy pocket! The Pentium II 333 would not really cut it as a multimedia performer, or so i thought, but again, i was surprised just how capable this portable is! Basically, being a student and wanting to carry the thing with me everyday, this is ideal, weighing in at 1.8 kilos without the base, i can word process, write emails, i have it on a broadband internet connection which lets me stream radio ... Macbook: The Only Choice
Review of Apple MacBook Core 2 Duo 2.1 GHz - 13.3" TFT by chids

Advantages: Looks, Simplicity, Works out-of-the-box, battery life, power
Disadvantages: Case feels a little cheap, Screen attracts fingerprints

...Macbook was purchased direct from Apple and took just two days to arrive. And, as promised, it worked straight out of the box. I just pressed power filled out my user details and i was going. The setup hooked me onto my wireless internet and i was away. The first thing that struck me was the size of the thing, it's only slightly thicker than an average sized hardback notepad and weighs just over 2 kg, in other words it's a perfect size. Before the ...
...is very clean and crisp. Apple really has gone above and beyond with this one, it's perfect. The 13,3 inch glossy screen is great for watching movies. Just a note for skeptical readers: the glossy screen rarely (if ever) reflects anything in the background. When it comes to using the Macbook in a brightly lit area or outside there is less reflection than there would be on a Matte display. Battery life on the Macbook. Is better than almost all other ... The Good and the Bads of the Toshiba Equium A60
Review of Toshiba Equium A60-155 - Celeron D 335 2.8 GHz - 15" TFT by chrisattrill

Advantages: Cheap, Reliable, Run up to date games.
Disadvantages: Heavy, Slow, Battery

The Toshiba Equium A60, is a cheap, and reliable laptop. It can do the basic commands of oppening Microsoft Office to a harder command of running the most up to date games. The A60 is quite old now, and I was worried at first that it may not be able to run Flight Simulator X. In the end the game works fine. The spec is good aswell, if you have got alot of files then you may need to buy and external hard drvie for extra storage. Then there is the ...
...portable. Also if you have got lots of programs then the laptop may be slow and most of the time the laptop will not be able to run more then three or four major programs. Also the battery is not very good; infact it is rubbish. But as long you have got the charger in the laptop you should be ok and it should not be a problem. Over all its a good "student" laptop, and the price you pay is the price you get! I paid £230 for this laptop, but i'm sure ... Read review

A good budget laptop
Review of Dell Inspiron 1525 by Rich444

Advantages: Looks nice, works well, some nice added touches
Disadvantages: A few build and technical issues

...know, an unusual thing with Dell is that they only sell laptops online, and all products can be fully customised to meet your specifications. For around £329 you can buy the base level specifications of an Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor T1400(1.73Ghz), 2Gb RAM and a 120Gb hardrive. More than sufficient for an entry level laptop. However these specifications can be customised up to a 2Ghz processor, 4GB RAM and a massive 250Gb hardrive. This would ...
...add-ons include a built in 2MP webcam (£20 extra), a larger capacity battery and a Truelife (glossy finished) screen. For the purpose of the review, my laptops specs are: 2.00Ghz Processor, 3Gb RAM and 120Gb Hardrive. I have the built in webcam, and the plain matte screen. Physical Features The Inspiron is a sophisticated looking laptop, despite being a little bit on the bulky side. Its dimensions are 14.05"x10.08"x1.0-1.48" (its wedged shaped) ... Read review
