Excellent for a budget computer
Review of Toshiba Equium A100-147 - Core Duo T2050 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
Puzzle121
Advantages: Good sound, nice looks, battery life, running speed
Disadvantages: Slow startup, small memory, heats up
I'd only had one laptop before this, and, for the less computer-friendly out there, i'm going to make do without all the 'Intel Celeron' stuff, because i simply don't understand! All i know is that the laptop is Vista Capable.
I love my laptop. It's very light, it is very thin, and has a very large screen. It has a black keypad, and silver surroundings, with a large monitor and black plastic surroudings. The outer casing is also black, the top of ... ...logo on it. There are two small but potent speakers above the keyboard, and the mousepad is almost central, below the keyboard, with a touchpad, and a left and right mouse button. There's a small silver on button, which has a big blue light above it - for notification fo when the laptop's on, and there's also buttons below for controlling various media programs - a pause button, a stop button, and also skip button, and a button used for media on ...

Toshiba a-100
Review of Toshiba Equium A100-306 - Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
JoeG1993
Advantages: slim, widescreen,media aspects, durable.
Disadvantages: Battery life
Great stylish widescreen laptop, with good media features. Theres a set of buttons along the left side of the keypad which control all the activities for playing DVDs. Very slim which makes portability excellent. Excellent durability, i've dropped mine from over 2ft at least three times and its still running smoothly! The speed of shutting down is quite dissapointing although just folding it will put it on to hibernate which is useful and takes up ...

The Toshiba Equium A110-233: Jack of All Trades
Review of Toshiba Equium A110-233 - Core Solo T1350 1.86 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
salar15
Advantages: Is more than adequate across the board; very easy to use
Disadvantages: As a result, it is unexceptional in most of its attributes
The Toshiba Equium A110-233 is a very competent all-purpose computer, coming at a very reasonable price (I purchased mine online at Dixons for round about £460). The actual model itself looks stylish enough, though it lacks any particularly imaginative design flair. Suffice to say, however, that it isn't an ugly, clunky beast like some laptops to be found on the market. The screen is perfectly serviceable, with adequate resolution to handle the viewing ... ...laptops of being irritatingly minute.
The processing capability of the hardware is certainly fit for purpose too - unless you plan on using memory-intensive games or image-editing software, it should satisfy your needs; certainly if you intend mostly to utilise Microsoft Office, the internet, and other software on an intermittent basis, you should find that your requirements are met with distinction. As regards the battery time - I think the advertised ...

Does an excellent job for most day to day tasks
Review of Toshiba Equium A200-26D - Core 2 Duo T5450 1.66 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
s32bauer
Advantages: Good looks, most basic equipment you would need, able to handle most programs
Disadvantages: Not suitable for games, some aspects feel cheap
...However, I will warn that Toshiba have placed quite a lot of branding on the software. The Toshiba wallpaper is easy to get rid of, but there are numerous 'memory eating' programs that Toshiba claim to help your laptop - they do nothing worthwhile. Certainly nothing that Windows can't do better. Separate programs for controlling the touch pad aren't required, and uninstalling all of this non-essential software frees up storage space and memory.
... ...ethernet port for my internet, and have had no issues with either. The ethernet is very straight forward plug and play, and connects to your ISP in seconds.
The display is extremely crisp and sharp, and the brightness can be changed to suite your needs (and energy consumption). On the subject of energy consumption, this laptop isn't too bad compared to some I have used. I can run my laptop in high performance mode using wireless LAN for internet, ...

HP DV6599 Special Edition - Good All Rounder
Review of HP Pavilion Media Center dv6599ea Special Edition Entertainment - Core 2 Duo T7300 2 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
marcus997
Advantages: Features, size and design
Disadvantages: Not good enough for gaming
...me. As a fan of HP products, I chose from the DV6500 range available at the time. This laptop had every spec I required for both using as a station for university assignments, as well as home use for music, film and gaming.
Firstly, the design is eye-catching. I was bored of looking at the generic black or grey and thought the white anti-scratch surface was ideal. The laptop is also quite light and the absense of a locking clip meant there was less ... ...more than my money's worth! HP also frequently offer discounts so it's always worth checking to see what deals are to be had.
As well as the remote control that is stored away when not in use, another of my favourite features is the fingerprint reader. When you use the internet on a frequent basis, remembering usernames and passwords can be frustrating. For anyone who hops from website to website, I'd highly recommend this feature.
Thankfully I ...
