My Laptop--Acer Aspire1200X
Review of Acer Aspire 1200X - C 1 GHz - 14.1" TFT by linxin11

Advantages: Good quality with a cheap price and have a good service
Disadvantages: There are too much sound from the Fan of CPU.

I bought this Laptop--Acer Aspire1200X from China 4 months ago. I'm glad that I bought it. Because it brought me a lot of convenience and entertainment. The configuration of it as follow: 14.1" XGA TFT LCD Intel Celeron processor-1GHz 128MB+128MB(original) SDRAM 20GB+10GB(original)Ultra ATA/100 HDD 24x CD-ROM Windows XP Price: £909 Then I spend £8 in buying a USB HDD Box, and I put that 10GB HDD into this box in order to make a mobile USB ...
...files from other compute without Intranet. To be honest, this laptop is not a high-configuration laptop, but it can run the program we use in general. There is a pity in this laptop is When you run some large program with the XP system, the speed will be a little bit slow, and if you chage your operation system, such as windows 2000, it'll speed up, but the display driver for Windows 2000 is not very good. There was something wrong with that, so ... A bargain?
Review of Acer Aspire 1300X - Athlon XP 1400+ 1.2 GHz - 14.1" TFT by cheffie1

Advantages: Compact, value for money
Disadvantages: no USB ports for mouse etc!

Had never heard of the Acer brand before but as the laptop was on special offer in shop and appeared to be a bargain, we gritted our teeth and went ahead. Over the first few weeks after purchase we realised that the laptop has no USB ports or ports for mouse etc so you have to use the touch pad, like it or not. However for a basic, home use laptop for the average user it does what it needs to do! Would not recommend this model for any business use ... Read review

Beginers Luck
Review of Acer Aspire 1300XC - Athlon XP 1400+ 1.2 GHz - 14.1" TFT by g-scaib

Advantages: Good Looks
Disadvantages: Bad Memory and overall performance

I've had my Acer Aspire for about a year now, and desperately need to upgrade. Although I have gotten a lot of use from this computer, I have also had a lot of problems with it. The main problems I have had involve the lack of available memory, and that it crashes too often. This could be due in part to not having adequate memory for all of the applications I use, but this is not the entire problem. There are times when I have nothing open except ...
...need. It is much too slow and has inadequater memory. For the price its ok, nothing special (iv seen some going for about $1699). Lacks tremendously with grapgics. Though Acer do have style on their style but that wont keep you up with market if you buy one. ... Read review

Beauty or Beast?
Review of Acer Aspire 1300XV - Athlon XP-M 1400+ 1.2 GHz - 14.1" TFT by jame.s

Advantages: Small and Lightweight
Disadvantages: Lacking in Power

This little notebook is an absolute gem for people on the go. It is small, lightweight and its simple design makes it one of the more attractive notebooks out there! It's great for working on microsoft word, excel etc but it may not compare to the performance of some of the more modern notebooks that technology has to offer. If your after something for work and only work or watching dvds on the train or airplane, get it. This notebook has 20GB of ...
...work, doccuments etc on (I am yet to have it crash!) If you want to do some occasional gaming it has to be a no. It lacks the processor of graphics card to play games. The ultra thin 14.1 inch TFT will make anything you do look spectacular The procesor is a mere AMD Athlon XP running at a maximum of 1.2 GHz The 20gb hard drive is relatively quick and is big enough The graphics card is severely hampering the notebook's performance; It is just 32mb ... Good solid business laptop
Review of Dell Vostro 1500 by supermushroom

Advantages: Cheap, mean little machine
Disadvantages: Heavy, non-linux compatable

...just the best buy and Dell are known to be a respectable no frills brand which helped. It's worth noting that my Dell came with a lot of bundled software, slowing it down slightly. It was a litttle trouble to format a new laptop and install the drivers again, but the machine has been satisfactory ever since! The ram seems to work well, the hardware (bluetooth, wireless, DVD, Webcam etc) are top quality and are well integrated to work with each other. ...
...fully linux compatable yet, since i tried booting it up with Kubuntu, and unsuccessfully tried to get all the hardware to work for 4 months. It was okay though, just double check if you plan to use linux (you're better off going for a linux-ready dell). Also, it's meant for small businesses which means it's a little heavy and not the best machine for you to lug it around everywhere (especially if you're a student!). Having said that, i don't have ... Read review
