Excellent compromise between portability and size
Review of Sony VAIO C2Z/B - Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66 GHz - 13.3" TFT by
porsche917
Advantages: Strong frame, full size keyboard, excellent screen, not too heavy.
Disadvantages: Windows Vista, runs hot.
I spent a long time looking for a truly portable laptop that would still have a large enough keyboard for heavy duty use, and a large enough screen for watching DVDs, which none of the ultra-portables seemed to offer.
Final shortlist was this Vaio and the Apple MacBook.
Very pleased I chose the Vaio. Extremely good looking, light enough, full size keyboard, and a great screen.
Real upside is a very strong case. Mine was squashed in a bag, and ... ...bent it back and it functions perfectly.
Downsides are really to do with Vista, you need to download a patch to ensure the computer will come out of hibernation when you open the screen, and when coming out of hibernation it seems to lose the sound drivers. Also, if you are using it in bed then you need to rest it on something, it gets very hot otherwise! ...

Brill!
Review of Acer Aspire 3692WLMi - Celeron M 420 - 15.4" TFT by
alexjwalker12
Advantages: 1gb Ram, Silver look
Disadvantages: weak casing, low battery life
I bought this laptop from comet mid november and it is one of the best pieces of equipment i have bought. Even though the casing is quite weak, the look is fantastic and the overall speed of the pc is WOW! That 1gb Ram really does boost the speed and was surely a big change from the pc i used last, which only had 256mb ram and 800mhz celeron processor. The Windows XP Media Centre 2005 Operating System is surely worth the money you pay, and is perfect ...

Acer Aspire 2000 centrino
Review of Acer Aspire 2001WLCi - Pentium M 1.4 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
smacdoodle
Advantages: thin, lightweight and fast
Disadvantages: none i can think of
I bouht one of these a week ago and I think this is on of the most ellegent and efficient laptops around today. The aspire uses a 1.4 Ghz P4 M centrino which seems alot faster than my mates 2.6 ghz P4. It has 512 Meg ram included (upgardeable to 4 Gb). The centrino has built in 11b wifi, i have it wirelessly connected throughout the house using ADSL and a wireless router. It runs quietly and the battery seems to last for ever. It has a built in Linux ... ...to click on and manages to boot in 10 secs! The Linux system can be used intead of windows just by switching on with a different button, or you can just switch on normally and windows xp loads up pretty quick. The Linux interface can be used for watching dvd's, burning CD's, listening to music or watching video/pics from your hard drive. Onboard is a 64 meg ATI graphics card which is easily enough for most games i have. The widescreen is beautifully ...

Asus eee
Review of Asus Eee PC 8G by
Denise_Stones
Advantages: small , light, great wifi
Disadvantages: poor memory, short battery life, no cd drive
The eee series is very beautiful if your looking for a easy to use small portable laptop this is the one, the only downside is the linux based system but I now have Xp up and running it cost me an extra 50.00 but is well worth it, this was originally made for kids to encourage homework studies but has not been adopted by the older generation.
This laptop is strictly for internet and studying purposes do not buy if you want to play games or dvds ... ...not got the memory to cope with memory eating software.
It has built in wifi which i was very impressed with its more powerful then the one on my pc.
But all in all this is a very impressive little computer that should not be underestimated with its high speed internet connection ...

M1330
Review of Dell XPS m1330 by
stonecoldkevster
Advantages: Speed
Disadvantages: Crashes sometimes
How do Dell keep doing this, another amazing laptop for people like me to enjoy.
This laptop can have an immensive amount of RAM and Hard Drive put in to it and you can also change colour and pattern to severel differant ones.
Has a security fingerprint check to get in the laptop or/and in laptop files. Now that is technology so if any one steals it they wont be able to get on it!
Also is designed for storing pictures and movies and games and ...
