Kinsella excelled herself again?!
Review of Shopaholic and Baby - Sophie Kinsella by
SoppySista
Advantages: The ever ridiculous storyline
Disadvantages: There isn't yet a sequel...?!
Having read the rest of the series, I had high expectations for this book, and once again Sophie Kinsella managed to entertain me with the exploits of Becky Brandon (née Bloomfield) and this time, her hormonal paranoia over her gynacologist added to her already ridiculous shopping habits. A sad moment comes when things don't seem all fine and dandy between Becky and Brandon, yet all that she involves herself in to fully understand her husband's life ... ...upset does not last for too long when you can barely put the book down. I never cease to wonder where Sophie Kinsella thinks of what Becky is going to do next, but really I can't fault her. The stories may not be realistic but who cares?! Much like our favourtie soaps we are drawn in so I urge anyone who thinks that they have a spending addiction to read this - you will surely feel better about yourself! ...

The Handmaid's Tale
Review of The Handmaid's Tale - Margaret Atwood by
SoppySista
Advantages: Characters, Plot
Disadvantages: Ending
...and very discreetly adds to the meaning of Offred's words. It is easy to say that the book does nto always flow, and can be boring at times, however you should consider the fact that perhaps the story is simply to unbelievable for us to hear. Don't get me wrong, it's a great read, the ending a little unimpressive, but if you want to feel appreciative for all that you have, I would give this a read. ...

Casualty - but not based in Holby City
Review of The First Casualty - Ben Elton by
mum2boys82
Advantages: A good who done it
Disadvantages: A bit gory in places
...is another best seller. The story is set mainly in the 3rd battle of Ypres in WW1, and as I am not really into history or war books I was not sure if this was the book for me. I decided that if I borrowed it from the library and didn't like it, it would cost me nothing to find out.
The Story
-------------
The story starts with a trial of Inspector Kingsley who is refusing to go to war as he feels that this was is not rational. He is sentenced ... ...who put many people inside the prison himself.
As the story moves on you follow Inspector Kingsley as he is drawn into the SIS (secret service) in very odd circumstances so that he can investigate the death of a British Officer believed to have been murdered whilst recuperating from war wounds.
Kingsley must find out who killed the officer, was it a lovers tiff, was it a suspected Bolshevik (sympathiser with Russia), or could there be another person ...

BEST BOOK EVER!
Review of PS I love you - Cecelia Ahern by
emu2008
Advantages: Unique storyline
Disadvantages: Wished it never ended!
The first book I read by Cecelia Ahern, and what a book it is! Finished the book after a few days of starting it, couldn't put the thing down! Its about a woman losing the love of her life and him writing to her each month to help her get over her loss. After reading this book I think every girl will want this to happen to her! I have never in my life cried at a book or thought I could but i did at this one, real tear jerker yet witty and interesting. ... ...this book, READ THE BOOK FIRST! The book is deffinately the better of the two so please read the book before watching the film! I recommend this book to every girl wanting that fairytale romance and loves a good romantic storyline.
Deffinate 10 out of 10 no contest! ...

Which chocolate are you?
Review of The Chocolate Run - Dorothy Koomson by
kingfisher111
Advantages: very entertaining read
Disadvantages: none
The Chocolate Run is the third book I have read by Dorothy Koomson following My Best Friend's Girl and Marshmallows for Breakfast. This book is an earlier offering and I have to admit that at first I did not think I was going to enjoy it so much - it was a bit of a slow starter for me but by about half way through I was really hooked! It's a book that's well worth sticking with!
The book is told by the main character Amber Salpone. She is a thirty ... ...upbringing which saw her witness the disintegration of her parent's own marriage. No relationship has lasted with Amber - that is until she gets together with Greg although this relationship is not without its complications. Greg and Amber have been great mates for years mainly due to the fact that their best friends Matt and Jen are seeing each other. They have generally made up a foursome but it has taken them a while to realise the attraction ...
