I bought the Acer x221w after much agonising regarding the upgrade of my monitor and am happy to say that it is the best PC purchase that I have ever made. If you are looking for a big monitor with a small budget then I totally recommend going for this one. The brightness and picture quality are excellent, particularly for gaming where it has functioned at 1600:1200 resolution on a number of games (above the spec of 1680:1050) with brilliant results. ...

It was well reviewed so I bought it sight unseen - stupid I know but done now. The physical appearance is fine but for word processing (and a selling point was having two pages displayed at a time it is appalling). It does not do crisp black and white. The blacks are greenish or after adjustment reddish but never black and with the reddish blacks the presentation of characters in a red font is weak. ...my best friend has this BenQ wide format TFT screen. This multiple use screen can be used for a variety of tasks: from checking your email to watching a HD movie or even playing HD games via the HDMI port.. Also, its relatively cheap! However apart from the above advantages there are no other advantages (I watch movies, play games and even surf the net on the monitor every other day...so believe me when I say there are no other major advantages.) ...
