LCD Monitors

Advantages: Great resolution, brightness and small footprint
Disadvantages: Still more expensive than traditional CRTs, not good for graphic design

I had my company buy this flat screen to take care of a couple of different problems: First, I had no room on my desk for a standart CRT monitor and second, I couldn't keep staring at my laptop screen for 8 hours a day. Buying this product, I have chosen best for me the attitude price/quality. For me the appearance and characteristics of the monitor was important. All this I have found in this model of the monitor. For me the convenience of set-up of parameters of the image and screen is important. But there are also lacks - with work with the monitor at me the eyes get tired. I bought a flat screen monitor mostly because they look so much better. I have been so impressed with the colour quality and the visible viewing area. It is only a 15 inch screen but appears much bigger. I can happily watch DVD films on it with better quality picture than our 28 inch TV. The Samsung Syncmaster 19 inch monitor is an excellent display for the price. A few months ago I was looking for a good quality display, larger than 17 inches yet still somewhat reasonably priced (under $600), and it had to be available at a local store in my area so I could check out the picture quality on a demo model. Running it at a resolution of 1280x960 everything is clear and readable, however a 19 inch display should be able to do 1280x1024 ...
...higher looks a bit blurry to me, but that may be the fault of my video card, a VooDoo 3 3000 - great for 3D but not top of the line for 2D - a card specifically made for 2D might do a better job at higher resolutions. I also have an SVGA pass-through cable for my DVD decoder card installed, which I thought might be part of the problem, but I tried removing this and there is no noticeable improvement. A BNC to SVGA cable would probably provide the ... Read review
