Advantages: great bike for a good price
Disadvantages: tire clearance

This is one of my favourite bikes. It is the perfect bike to upgrade, but it is also billiant with original parts. Thats what is so good I think- every one i've seen has been modified differently- some people have put on suspension, others disc-brakes. You don't have to upgrade this bike to make it good though. ...bars (the list goes on). The minor weaknesses such as the tyre clearance only matter really to an absolute perfectionist. For normal people like me, there is nothing wrong with it. I bought the 2005 model Fire Mountain in the beginning of last year. I rode it XC for a good 3 months after purchase. The bike performed well, has a good gear ratio (has capability to go extremely fast, and get up the steepest of hills). But the comfort was not great, especial on longer rides. ...bottom of the range. But Kona give you a frame that is easy to upgrade. That is one of the differences between a good bike company and a run off the mill bike company. Advantages: Good mulit-tasking bike
Disadvantages: Only supplied with summer tyres and brake system is pain in the neck to service

...kit, of course being a specialized it will be and over the last thousand miles which have been a mix of off roading fun and simple on road commuting i can say this bike is a good mulit tasker. its lock-out suspension makes a world of difference for when you need to climb a hill on the road and when your off road with the lock-out off, provided you have the correct inflation in the suspension its a strong firm ride and you can feel whats happening ...

Dahon make a daunting array of folding bikes, both under their own name and for other firms (like Trek) starting at the top with full-sized bikes that merely fold (suitable only for transportation in a car boot) down to the Curve D3 which, with its dinky 16" wheels, has the potential for being as compact when stored as the Brompton.
