ERRRRRR I FORGOT WHERE I PUT IT
Review of 15Kb digital diary by
LICARUS
Advantages: ehlps you to keep track of people and places you are supposed to be
Disadvantages: remember to take it with you
Having decided to end my days as a stick in the mud, who avoided mobile phones and computers like the plague I recently added to my collection of ‘gadgets’ a personal organiser. Ok so that is not such a shocking revelation to most people, but for me it was a pretty big step!
Many people will wonder why I felt the need to buy one of these, basically computerised address books. Well the answer is I am a bit scatterbrained at times (no ... ...numbers and so on. Now this didn’t pose a problem really as for phone numbers I had my mobile phone, and most people I know are on the Internet – so I didn’t really need their home address. When I started my job as a community nurse, 3 years ago, I found myself needing to know a whole host of phone numbers. Many of these were in my phone, but as my phone only held 99 numbers I found I had many of them written in my work diary, on ...

Wireless Graffiti
Review of 3Com Palm VII by
alexslater
Advantages: Wireless comms, Palm interface (if you like that kind of thing)
Disadvantages: Palm interface (if you don't), price
I had the opportunity to trial one of these gadgets for a fortnight a short while ago, whilst in the US. Those of you that have read my other PDA opinion will know that I own, and am very fond of, a Psion Revo. As one of my main positive points about my Revo, I praised the keyboard, and commented that I could not get along with Graffiti, the Palm stylus input system. Things have changed a little, but not a lot!
On receipt of the Palm VII I was immediately ... ...sleek as my Managing Director’s Palm Vx, it was definitely a nicely screwed together little unit. Enticed by the prospect of wireless internet and intrigued by the web-clipping functionality I soldiered through my initial dislike of the Graffiti interface and found to my surprise that, once mastered, it is very intuitive. I realize that this is something that all Palm users already know, but excuse my reluctance to embrace any of this new fangled ...

Good piece of kit but not for professionals
Review of Acer N10 by
seen206
Advantages: Sleek style, good screen size, easy to use
Disadvantages: Limited battery, badly positioned mem card slot
...media music, video etc... The acer N10 filled my needs in this area however I was expecting slightly more than I got.
It has easy inital setup and the pen-to-screen interface works reasonably well. The letter regognition takes a little while to get used to but personally I found using the on screen keyborad was easier than writing everything out. The actual pda is slightly larger than others and also slightly heavier. The pen slips neatly away into ... ...it is in there. One physical design floor I thought was the position of the memory car slot. I used my PDA in my car to listen to music. I used a tradtional PDA holder to hold the PDA in place in the car, however the side clamps of the holder woul push the memory card in so when the PDA was removed the card sprung out. This was quite annoying and would often stop me from listening to the music as my music was on the memory card.
Overall if your ...

Just awful
Review of Acer N20w by
freddyzdead
Advantages: Bright screen
Disadvantages: Horrible Memory Stick
...expandability" is just ludicrous. Acer was not doing too well in my books until the N10 came along; now the N20 has undone all those good points.
The N20w drops out of sync whenever it feels like it, sometimes while in process of copying or installing things.
So far, I have not been able to get the wireless to work at all, which negates the only reason why I bought the thing in the first place.
The stylus is stored, not in a little hole at the ... ...fits into a groove on the right side, where it is sure to be quickly lost or broken, as well as adding another 4 or 5 mm to the already excessive width.
If you have the opportunity to acquire an N20, I suggest you stay right away. On the other hand, if you stumble across an N10, grab it, you won't be disappointed. It's hard to believe these two were even made by the same company.
It should be also noted that Acer's technical support, rather than ...

Great for a first time PDA user
Review of Acer N30 by
samwellb123
Advantages: User Friendly Interface
Disadvantages: Sound quality
As a student, i thought that a PDA might be a great way to organise myself. And it was. For what i paid (£169.99), i thought that what it did was good. I loved the interface, media player, and office. I even managed to get my wireless keyboard working on it! The bluetooth function made it easy for me to transfer songs to my phone, and vice-versa. There are many programs available from Microsoft and other sites providing Pocket PC software, all of ... ...to hold. I did read eBooks on it, which made good use of the scroll wheel at the side. I think the sound quality could be better, but obviously, its coming from 1 little speaker, so if you were looking for a PDA with great sound properties, i wouldnt recommend this one, but for what i needed it for (schoolwork and organisation) it was just what i needed. BUT! Unfortunately, due to and accident with a ruler, the screen was damaged on mine, so i got ...
